Well having been a keen Trainz'er since UTC and Had many, many Hours of enjoyment from the simulator, I'm disgusted that after building a 450+ table layout in TRS2004 that I cannot load it upto TRS2012 and have all the assets available!!:(, All of the Important Kuid's are OLD VERSION!! Well just for your info most have not been updated for your convenience:hehe:I'll just keep running Trs2004 Because it works!! Just because a BEAN counter said we can make more money! Guess what, he ain't gonna make it from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't buy the game, my son did!, if I had KNOWN I would have said NO! Backward compatibility would make me recommend the game but at the moment I would say FORGET IT !!!!:n::n::n::n:
Most of the one off Bridges I've used are unavailable so it would mean many HOURS change it, as in DAYS!!

NO THANK YOU!!

FOR CHRISTS SAKE CORRECT IT !!!:Y::Y::Y::Y:

Cause I won't be here for Long!!

Does that mean you won't make another post for 7 years?:hehe:

One could write volumes over the reasons that Auran/N3V decided to mandate a standard for content. You can be upset all you like, but the bottom line is, you either have to fix your assets to work with TS12 (not really a hard thing to do for 99% of all assets) or you'd be better off using assets that are more efficient as well as being in a lot of cases aesthetically more pleasing.

It also makes your game run a lot better if you're not clogging it up with old sloppy built assets that are inefficient. I too have been around for a long long time, I've built routes there were a lot more than 450 baseboards. But I realized rather quickly that you can replace one asset with another rather easily in TS 12 and if you have 50 bridges that are inefficient and not up to snuff, all you have to do is select it and the one you want to replace it with an hit a button and all of them on that route will be switched out instantaneously.

Tsk, tsk, stop the train, someone wants to get off at TRS2004. Like he said, where is it written that you HAVE to upgrade? If you don't want to use the latest features you don't have to. Your installation of TRS2004 will not magically stop working. Stay there and continue to enjoy the hobby. No need to make a scene and there is nothing to correct, TS12 works just fine.

You might want to try TS 2010. It has compatibility mode for older assets and the graphics are much improved.

The OP..... DID NOT.... buy the game....it was a gift from his son.

If he is happy with TRS2004, he does not need to move from that.

There is really no point in telling him what version to purchase.

Regards,

I'm glad to hear you won't be here for long as the title of your thread is totally unnecessary. Please read the Code of Conduct before swearing in a family forum.
And while we are at it, why can't I still use all my hardware and software with my copies of Windows98 and WindowsME that I bought back in the good old days?
Why must technology and time keep on moving forward when I'm quite happy to be stuck in the past.

Don't forget peeps, that TRS2004 users don't have free access to the DLS anymore. I would have suggested to the gentleman to purchase TRS2010 also, for compatability, but, it's a bit too late now......

Judging by what i have heard recently , N3V or Auran what ever they are called nowdays is charging 149.99 in whatever currency (a complete rip-off anyway) for something that does not run well because of those hideous SpeedTreez (what was wrong with the s) has no backward compatibility and a host of other problems. In short you all appear to be saying that TS12 sucks.

Gee, I didn't say that. Seems like there are quite a few satisfied TS12 users, even if it's not perfect. But if you care to poll the several thousand (at least) TS12 purchasers who haven't come to this board and complained, and give some semblance of an informed opinion, be my guest.

So based on the opinions of a bunch of whingers (some of whom don't even have TS12) you've come to the conclusion that it's not for you? Strange, it runs fine here and it didn't cost me 150 bucks either.

I can't say I love the Speedtreez, uracco, but, they don't appear to have any adverse effect on the operational side of things much, but, then some of us hardy gamers have proper computers to run resource hungry games on, unlike those I've read about on various forums who try and run games, such as TS12, on a girlies laptop with a 1.6 GHz CPU, and then complain like hell because they experience too much lag and stutter, what did they expect.
Pofig's models of the Speedtreez look excellent on Dermmy's East Kentucky route, very lifelike for the area, a true enhancement of the route, and there is absolutely no lag in the game whatsoever.
It all depends on your interpretation of the word hideous, some of the Speedtreez look very good, others, I grant you are a bit weird, but, you don't sit and stare at the trees all day long anyway, you're supposed to be driving trains......:p

You can make a TRS2004 CDP of your route available to others on Mediafire.

Even I, would not expect all of my TRS2006 route assets to show up in TS12.

Alot of TRS2004 / TRS2006 assets are broken, and have errors.

TS12 ... EDITED May have issues with non-compatability of faulty older assets

Your TRS2004 route might have older assets show up better in TS10.

Yes ... You will have to rework your TRS2004 route for TS12, and replace assets, and maybe even track.

TS12 is absolutely not backward compatable to older assets, for the most part.

The first statement is fairly true, the second is false except under a very narrow definition. TS12 is quite capable of using older content, but you will need to ensure that the assets that you are using are not "broken" and don't "have errors". This is a reasonable request for any asset, so to turn around and say that TS12 is "absolutely not backward compatible" because it rejects faulty content is a bit of a tall story.

I stand corrected ... but if I loaded my TRS2006 route into TS12, I would have a some rework to do.

I am sure that my TRS2006 route in TS12 it would look 400% better, graphics wise.
