This almost never happens where I live...

What on Earth was the idea of "staging protests against the deaths". Elephant + moving train = dead elephant. Sad, but it happens.
 
I would have to guess they were protesting the fact that the train was traveling twice as fast as the speed limit, which would limit the response an engineer could initiate to avoid common dangers on the track, such as... you know...baby elephants stuck in the right of way.
I know if a Metra train were to have a similar accident at a similar rate of speed then that could only mean the circus was in town!
