Thinking about buying Trainz 2019

I am thinking about buying Trainz 2019 but at present have Trainz 2016 installed on my computer. Should I uninstall 2016 or leave it as it is? My concern is that there could be a conflict between the two at some point when working with 2019. Not worried about the space they take up on my HD because I have 2TB HD and a 500 SSD which I work off of at present and my computer is nothing more than a toy so using up space is a minor problem. I also have an Alienware laptop I would also like to install 2019 on so would I have to buy 2019 twice or could I install 2019 on both of my computers with one purchase? Thanks to all for any help given.

at present have Trainz 2016 installed on my computer.
There is no 2016 version of this game, so you are likely talking about something else.

Only if space is going to be a problem, de-install whatever you no longer use. Till that time leave it.

With TRS2019 you can put the smaller program on your boot drive where most programs go, and you can place your data on your larger 2TB drive. You will be prompted to place your data somewhere when installed, or you can move it later on if you decide.

There is no need to buy the program twice.

Good luck. I bought TRS19 and it does nothing but crash.

All you do is complain without telling us what you're doing, or what assets you are using. We can't help if you don't give us the details. It's the same as saying "It hurts" without saying where.

Just an FYI:

90% of the crashes are caused by faulty content whether it's a corrupted asset, poorly made asset, or a bad script. If none of these issues apply, then you need to look at your system its self.

Right on, John. I am surprised you guys even take the time to respond to these type posts, I don't.

That is my problem with a digital version of anything. I would much rather have a DVD version so I have complete control of the download process.

My suggestion, if you are going to buy TS2019, I wouldn't muck around and just get a "regional" version. I would go in, boots and all to this; https://store.trainzportal.com/coll...ainz-railroad-simulator-2019-platinum-edition

IMHO, that's the best money for value option out there at the moment. (Trainz wise).

And yes, you can install your single copy onto both your PC & laptop, retaining your existing TS2012. I would recommend you defrag both your HDD's, before installation. (PC & laptop). Please note; Don't defrag your PC's SSD drive.

Happy Trainzing,

Cheers, Mac...

I agree with Meatloaf 747. For a pittance of extra cost, the whole world opens up to you with Platinum, plus there are route makers who often tend to take pieces from around the world in constructing their routes, which leads to missing dependencies if you only have a regional Trainz.

Soprry I upset you. I wasn't asking for help, just stating my experience having bought a new, high-end PC for the purpose of playing Trainz 2019. For non-technical users, determining which assets are corrupted or badly made is not easy.

You should start out with the routes and sessions that come with your TRS19 edition. This virtually eliminates bad assets. If they don't work, come back for more help.

I'm not sure buying 2019 is a wise move to begin with actually for the simple reason I ONLY dabble in surveyor so I wonder if buying 2019 would justify the expense for just that. I also build logging and old time mining routes with steam power only. Since the days of UFC I have never placed a diesel engine on one of my routes when it came time to test the route for mistakes. etc. I spent 5 years in a Veterans hospital in Georgia and while there I would spend hour after hour building routes with Trainz06. Since I was discharged from the hospital in 1996 I have been away from Trainz for the most part but I find myself at present needing something to do to pass the time away other than watching TV and movies. I am 81 years old, a disabled Vietnam Veteran (back, legs, COPD and hearing) so physical activity isn't one of my strong suits any longer.

Getting back on track (pun intended) what is the general opinion of my buying 2019 if I only intend to build routes? I suppose I am interested in knowing if 2019 has assets and ease of use that is more beneficial to route building than 2012?

Thanks for any input and sorry for the rambling but I like for people that I intermingle with to know a little bit about me.

I think you would find TANE less of a challenge, as its much more like older versions of the game. I am perhaps not the best person to advise you in some ways as do not take to 2019 very much, I really do not like the interface. If you can take full advantage of 2019 PBX and Turf fx features 2019 probably is better than TANE , but if you don't have a really good graphics card or want to mess with the new features , I think you might be better off with going no further than TANE, which is much better at building its database in a matter of seconds rather then in hours and is pretty stable for me ( although i have resisted moving to the SP4 update at the moment. .

This may not be a deciding factor, but a lot of route creators have been updating their older routes for 2019, and the result is a more realistic visual experience. If you go down to the Freeware Forum and check the screenshots in threads for routes being newly created and older ones being updated I am sure you will be impressed. And these are freeware! Also, they made changes in T:ANE that obsoleted a lot of vegetation by pofig and McGuirel. That means a lot of un-updated older routes, especially those made with 2012 will be nearly bare of vegetation and the asset lists will be full of faulty assets. This is also true for TS2019, but TS2019 can take advantage of those that have been updated for T:ANE as well as those being updated for TS2019. Something to consider, anyway. I upgraded from T:ANE to TS2019 Platinum and have not been sorry I did. If you wait for a sale, Platinum is VERY reasonable!

I agree with Forester1, there is no comparison with TRS 19 over previous versions (even TANE). The graphics qualities are miles ahead of any versions of the game. The only draw-back is that you need a pretty reasonable Graphics Card (980 or above) to get the most out of the new graphics.
