Thick overgrown trees

Since 2001
Good Afternoon --

I have lots of trees installed, and yet I can't get that right one yet, so, perhaps someone can suggest something --- Just searching for thick tall overgrown trees -- in fact, large and wide enough that one tree takes up last of space!

Thanks in advance

If you can find some, let me know as well. :D

We need forests and brushy places and not parks with nicely manicured trees all the time.

In the mean time, take a look at Pofig's trees. that have a "k" in them. They are bushes or smaller trees that can be used to fill in the underbrush, and the larger ones might look okay in the distance. Real forests though are a different story. We need treetops and little underneath so they fill in the background and look like a full forest. As I've said before, in a forest trees are full on the top and bare on the bottom.

May I suggest then you invest 3 years and educate yourself with SpeedTree and find that it is much more difficult than you think as well as to add those features would double the lengthy time to do SpeedTrees as it is now.
Then you will find that it is as much work as a Engine Mesh and require people pay for your knowledge/skills/and desired effects. Be happy with what you have for free, especially regarding SpeedTrees or other Billboard Trees.

So true. :) I've always thought my route in progress looked a little to manicured. There are spots on my route where I've achieved a more realistic look with pofig's trees by dropping them below ground level at different heights. This can give an effective overgrown, thick, dense look.

Britany,

I have no qualms about making content myself and even considered making Speed Trees especially for this need. I can say that I rarely if ever complain about other people's works, and especially yours which I praise and promote. Recently I inquired about the program and would like to make Speed Tree assets myself. However....

1) I was told to wait due to version changes with N3V.

According to Chris I was informed not to purchase the latest as it doesn't work with the current version installed, and indicated there were updates in the works.

2) Cost.

At the moment I cannot afford to purchase the software. I am disabled and on SS. This is my only income and that barely covers my medication, mortgage, and expenses.

So, young lady, you owe me an apology.

John

All the above is accurate, and I too can not afford to be T:ANE Compliant.
As for apology, I see that I did not directly offend you however apology given.
I am too also disabled (not young) and N3V denied my offer so my days of SpeedTree Creation have concluded.

I just get really really really tired of reading posts where people want this, want that, not happy with this, not happy with that.
I should just become a reader of the forum. I have changed yet still presumed for that of my past.

All I can say is good luck.

Good Morning John --

Hope each day is a pleasant one as I am well aware how it feels when one's body turns against you --- it seems, generally speaking, everyone is in the same boat, John!

Now, back on topic --- Might have to find a tutorial on trees! LOL ...

--- I guess for readers that are into trees I should explain my version here --- Imagine a tropical rain forest where trees overwhelm you with their presence, trees like those in the movie "Avatar", since trainz caters to one's imagination, where anything is possible! Trees of these sizes, yes ... But even on Earth back in the Jurassic era, there where trees that tower over and above the landscape ... that's the scene in mind!

If you ever visit the Museum of Natural History in NYC they have a display of a tree trunk dated centuries old, and it's super wide!!!

Lastly, this post here is NOT asking anything, etc etc .. it's an illustrate visual of my thoughts of what I am thinking for a layout!

I put this matter to rest, and see what happens!

You all have great weekend!

Apology accepted. I understand being left out. That's how I feel now and you just struck a nerve on me too. I spent 35 years in the high tech industry, moving up and up into various positions with increasing responsibility and management levels. I was at a point in my career where things were coming together at a really great company then everything pulled out from under me. Now I'm one of the forgotten ones that people pander to when they us walk across the street. We have those "benefits" which are threatened with cuts at every congressional change and don't even get cost of living increases that don't even keep up with inflation. But... we can get free coffee and donuts at the local donut shop on Wednesdays.

I know how you feel about the content complainers. They say lots and produce little more than more words. I have stepped in many times and told them to make things themselves as well. :)

Don't become just a reader, post more. You have some great ideas that are surely needed and welcomed by us all here. :)

@Ish6.

That sounds great, but you'll still need canopy trees rather than full forest floor to ceiling. Trees need light which is lacking at the bottom so they grow up and taller than their neighboring trees. Eventually, there are bare trunks with fewer leaves at the bottom except for vines and lots of moss, ferns, and other plants that can tolerate low light. This was even evident in Avatar when the people (critters?) went down to the forest floor.
