The Canadian Thread - Hi-Res images

Hello,

First, some whimsey: a group of local Highwaymen await a passing Coach. They are anachronisms however, not knowing that Iron Horses have replaced the hay fueled variety :hehe:.

Now, the RDCs pass a cattle feedlot:

Another view:

Finally, arrives at Manning Station, where it meets a freight bound for Brodie and the CPR line to Spence's Bridge.

That's all for now.

Morning Michael; Thanks for those shots! I don't know why, but when I see your work, even if I'm having a bad day, they make me feel good!

Cheers....Rick

RDCs

@dragongarh: The RDCs are PWeiser's work. http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?111676-NH-RDC-Set I did a quick reskin to CPR livery. VIA next and if I can find a typical view I'll do a CN set. Also, I'm going to enable Mail and Baggage, plus I'll need PWeiser's approval to post to DLC. I'll post in this thread as to availability.

@Rick: Thanks for the kind words - I need them at the moment - my main Trainz computer is in the garage for a new motherboard, the old one became intermittent. So I'm limping along on the older box, screaming and cursing as Driver stutters, hiccups and freezes.

cheers,
--Michael.

Uhhh, dragonharh already did the VIA rail coach set, made with REAL TEXTURE'S. That's why my screenshot earlier in this thread (See Gordon Pull's VIA) shows VIA cars, as they are fabulous, and I did the honers of fixing them and backdating them for use in Trainz 2009 No-SP and up.

I noticed the VIA Coach set. The set I reskinned are BUDD Railcars and are not the same at all.

Yes, you have permission to post your reskins to DLS ("Free for any use whatever.") And very nice they look, too.

Though this screenshot I took uses Thomas and Friends models, it does use the RCW VIA Cars. In a way, half fantasy, half real-life. *screenshot removed*
You do know there are actual VIA Rail locomotives on the DLS, don't you? There's definitely an F40PH, and perhaps a P42 too.

There are also 3 VIA F7s as well + one by hert I have some pic form the cab of a VIA F40PH if anyone's interested in making a real cab for them.

To FROOBIE:

Those RDC's look great! Would love to see some VIA Rail models too. I've stopped using them in TS12, because I found when they stopped on an industry or station track, there was a problem with the sound file of the doors opening and closing - ie. it wouldn't stop making the sound. It's probably a simple fix but one that is too difficult for my simple little mind!

Also, I was wondering if a proper/better cab has ever been made for the RDC's - the default one is not really aligned properly.

Anyway - great work on the CP reskins - Please let us know if any new skins become available.

Have New Cab

The RDC1-4 set does have a new custom cab based on photos of operational and museum RDCs. The sander button doesn't work and the trainbrake (per prototype, I believe) should normally be released with the car driven on the independent brake, but it does look pretty much like the inside of an RDC including the folding driver's seat and passenger trapdoors. Not guaranteeing you'll like it, be we tried.

Thanks for the compliment Neil!
The VIA Rail models are in the works. I JUST got my Trainz Computer back from the Garage; needed a new motherboard :'( . So... Applying a VIA colour scheme to Paul's models is challenging [Paul: Not a criticism. When someone gives you a box of chocolates the first thing out of your mouth should NOT be: "Oh these aren't dark chocolate with cherry cream centres and sprinkles on top...". Thanks again for the RDCs!]

It looks like a fictional scheme will have to do. I don't feel too bad, VIA (and CN) had sooo many colour schemes for their RDCs that who's to say mine isn't right, ehhh :hehe:

Regarding sound:
Paul's RDC doors aren't soundscripted. FYI: TS12 build 49922 and build 61388 both have the sound problem. It may be a config soundscript issue. I could soundscript his, but I'd need a sound file. The RDCs load/unload passengers which is as far as my interest goes.

I will be sure and post pictures when the VIA becomes available. [I found CN/VIA actually had one (1) RDC-4; I haven't found if CP had any. But ahhhh artistic licence  ]

Thanks for listening.
You might all - if you have a mind to - send a thought towards Roy Joosten - a fellow Trainz enthusiast - living in a troubled Thailand.
cheers,
--Michael.

I can talk to a guy i know about getting a real RCD cab pics. If you need anything feel free to PM me over skype. I'm working on my CN map

RDC in VIA colours

Hello all,

Here it is:

Due to geometric constraints, the waving Canadian flag had to be replaced with a Maple Leaf.

Enabling mail is going to take longer (if it's possible).
cheers,
--Michael.
