Thank you Andi06

Hi all,

I just want to take a moment to thank Andi for his wonderful animated switches / turnouts / junctions.

I am busy replacing all of my junctions with Andi's animated junctions because, in my opinion, it adds to the realism of the Trainz experience.

I think you enter in the kuid, or alter one of the track image files to suit the ties texture you want, or something similar to that. I tinkered with them and they were quite good looking.

Asside from the fact that they can't go up a gradient, and they look somewhat 2D, instead of 3D ... I agree that they do improve the Trainz sence of realism. But they could be improved upon, to come up to the MSTS2 standards, and high quality graphics that was implemented for the now deceased MSTS2 rail simulator.

do they change to the track attached to it? or is it just one style?

You have to manually select the type of track to match by selecting from a menu. It is also possible to add custom textures, but that is something I haven't tried yet.

The junctions also need to be wired up before they work. The blue and green lines in the next screenshot show the junctions after they have been wired up.

It's not quite a plug and play object, but the minor effort required to get them operational is well worth the effort as far as I am concerned.

Andi was working on full plug and play junctions at one stage, but I don't think they were ever completed. I downloaded a demo set, but these are limited to one predetermined texture only.

Ian

If I remember correctly Andi ran into scripting problems and was unable to get a satisfactory response from Auran so they were abandoned/put on the back burner. A pity as they were even easier to use - although you don't need that much intelligence to get the current ones to work.
