TC3 screenshotz.....

Is this one of the old Auran's skies ?

Looks that way, sadly. :( Why experienced route builder seldomly use newer "good" skies ? Especially for UK a choppy sky would have been nice.

Well.......the loco's look great i will say that, other than the trackwork and some of the station buildings i cant say im honestly that impressed with the route. The water does not look very realistic, with the exception of the waterfalls, the trees are still the same damn ones from trs UTC, the ground textures seem to be old ones too and they dont seem to be very effective. The track is still the same old with running rails going through each other at switches.....I had heard Andi06 was doing a update to his track and was hoping that would be used in this route. And still, its 2008 and no 3D grass on the default routes? No offence to the creators, but more attention to detail would have made this a far better route than it is now, it still looks pretty much like Hawkes Junction for 06, ive seen pics of Tads update to Hawkes, and little things like using high quality ground textures (ex: FMA), 3D grass, and trees that resemble more than flat sheets of cardboard with pictures of green cotton balls pasted on them can really change a mediocre route to a excellent one.

Nikos, when you bear in mind the acres of track on the 83 mile route it would hardly have been practical to install Andy06's points on the whole system would it?

I think TC3 is great and for 13 quid you getting a hell of alot more than the couple of 08s tou get with the RS addon pack. I cannot believe the ignorance and incompetence of some US users saying oh its only got a couple of things UK on it and on 1 route. 83 miles, 9 engines, and over 30 carriages and wagons (off memory). They've already got their version of TC which was TC1 nd we didn't get anything British with that so not every edition will have american content on it, will it? The team at Rail-sim have worked really hard to get this out I think theyre really brilliant trainz people, well done to them.
Here is my contribution...

Iron Duke approaches Hellifield with the Southbound Thames Clyde Express.

i might get it,

but u can download U.S. content, and routes for it right?

if so ima go buy it

I'm sorry I already thought that the US had their version of Classics  I just don't see the point of buying a UK sim when your only going to download US stuff.

Because TC 3 was supposed to fix certain problems from TC1/2. Also the mention about changes to engines and siganling, some may want to get used to the changes to get used to them rather than wait.
Of the few TC1/2 routes I saw, I saw a lot of non-American routes. We don't get to do the same?:p

One thing you have to bear in mind about animated points and UK routes, especially UK routes set in the 60's and earlier is our brilliant railway network. For the large part of this brilliant railway network, no one point is the same in length and radius, with them being built in situation. You maybe able to get away Andi's fixed points for a number of locations on the S&C route, but their will be an awful lot of places that will need new custom points creating if the track is to be laid prototypically. Another factor is the time taken to replace all the existing points with the animated points, wire them up and check that they all work correctly.

And of course the S & C is noted for its gradients whereas the fixed points are solid objests and can only stand level,I would love to know how many points there are , and how long it would take to replace them all...:o

I agree 100% with you. Plus not all of the stuff you'd download would work because classics doesn't include a lot of built-in stuff. You're better off with 06. I want classics because I'm actually interested in UK stuff.

And yes there is a US classics but it looks a little bit Australian.
This is it in real life.

You guys got lucky having an accurate version of the line.

Actually trackside objects orientated to the gradient of the track is now possible in TC3, that is just one of the improvements in the game.

Well i would hope that TRS 09 gets rid of the unrealistic switches, really MSTS has had actual animated switches since day one, its time TRS grows out of its toy train look. I would have been able to overlook the points issue though if the route actually resembled the works of third party creators that are using TRS to its full potential.
Lewisners shots show another major problem, why are those FPS so low, whats there to cause that low FPS? In the first shot, i suppose there are several tracks but they are 2D with the exception of the rails, and look as if they use 256 X 256 textures, The trains are quite detailed, but other than that are just some low res, lo poly houses and trees. In the second one just two tracks, a train, a signal box, and signals, alon with some very low detail fencing trees.

Can we see some shots with cloudy rainy weather and a decent sky? That may give the route a better look since TRS seems to always have overcast light anyways

I suppose it's the preponderance of splines, especially that 30 wire telegraph line.

You expect too much, I believe, for a general release. Sure, any payware add on route can be loaded with realism, and a user can decide if his gerbil can handle it or not, but a release that is intended to be worldwide has to be neutered to the point where almost any toaster can run it. It's a shame even with that in mind the route is still hard on some machines.
