The DVD version won't make a difference. Make sure that TC3 is compatible with your graphcs driver by running TrainzDiag.

Trainz, no matter which version, requires specific video cards and hardware to run, and really doesn't do well on laptops.

JCitron is right.
I know someone who had a program working on their desktop, they went to put it on their laptop but it didn't work. Eventually we figured out what made it fail was that most laptops have built-in video cards that share memory with the computer's RAM and there is little to no way to upgrade the video while a desktop you can easily add a video card that uses seperate memory. One reason you have to be selective in laptop purchases and careful what you install.
Got a desktop? No sarcasm intended, completely serious.

Just send it back to Auran and to Tony Hilliam personally. Include a letter that you promise to completely delete your copy from your hardware and Tony personally will send you re-fund.

PS: I know it is the download version.

NB: of course Tony doesn't trust the members here well enough to send you the re-fund first. Trust between Auran and the members here need to come from only one side.

PPS: I know other companies also don't do re-funds. I have however no issue here with other companies; just Auran.

That's why i made sure that my Laptop "XPS M1710" has a "normal" graphics card with it's own memory. Runs all versions of Trainz very well. :hehe:

also just tried it on a desktop pc at work (Pentium Dual Core 2.4Ghz, 2GB Mem, ATI 3850 512MB and it chuggs like hell on that too, whats wrong with the game engine? I can run Rail Simulator on the laptop just fine!

TRS doesn't make use of dual cores really so it probably doesn't appreciate running on a 1.2Ghz chip as much as anything. Of course it also depends what else you are running in the background.
