T:ANE in Trainz Next

Hi guys,
I know its a little early to ask, but do you think content from the T:ANE game will be transferable to the new Trainz game coming soon? By content I mean the built in content, like the K-4s and Tume's content. I know this was possible for Trainz 09, 10, 12. As far as I know Trainz "Next" isn't a huge overhaul to the game. Its a progression, like 2010 to TS12. What to you guys think?

Here is my statement on that. For posterity... If the revamp is so drastic, and most of the assets don't work properly, the least N3V should do is to create a tool to convert. I don't mean a hard tool to use. I know the matter is complex and may not be 100% possible, but it should be pursued. Is this another wishful thinking?

My understanding is that if it works in TANE then it will work in Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019.

At the very least, if you are running TANE "well enough" on your current system then TRS2019 will run slightly better on that same system, just like there was a noticeable improvement in performance from TS12 to TANE. Admittedly some of that improvement was due to the switch to 64 bit code, but a lot of code optimisation went into TANE and the same is true of TRS2019.

Most, if not all, of the assets that are causing performance issues in TANE are from older Trainz versions. All of the older assets lack a lot of the optimisation features used by TANE, such as Levels of Detail, to improve performances and reduce graphics overheads. Those problems will remain if/when those same assets are used in TRS2019. As more TANE and TRS2019 specific assets become available these older assets will become less common. My opinions only.

I'd qualify that by saying if it works in TANE SP3 then it should work in TRS19. SP3 has more stringent validation that SP2: mostly for dependency checking.

I recently had a bunch of assets to fix for the CRG and those assets were error free in SP2. This was puzzling but when I checked those assets in SP3 they showed errors - mostly for dependencies.

N3V does fix assets that are built-in for TANE but broken in later service packs and, presumably, for TRS19.
