Switchstands

I know there`s already a thread on here somewhere about this probably but I can`t seem to find it. For TRS2006 how do I change the default switchstands to another one? I want to switch to the cnr ones by Tlanders. Also is there a way to change the ones already installed in my route without doing it one by one.

I click on "automaticly place switch levers" in Surveyor Options and turn that feature "Off" by ticking the button off. Then as you lay switchs they will have no levers at all (but then they can not be thrown) (so you must look down from straight above, and click on Trackside Lever of your choice, and apply custom levers directly in the center of the turnout spline point).

So basicly, if you have a default lever in place, you must delete each one, one by one, and replace them by hand.

If you delete them all, then go back and hit each switch and apply a new one, that might be easier.

I don't know if you can edit a route in the CCP, and change out all the switchstands in one shot ?

I have always admired those CNR switchstands ... but I have found that the PRR used something close to the "Low switch stand r" by Palanor (which has a unprototypical looking throwover lever).

The default switchstands are set by the region setting on your map. Clone the region and name it something else (MyRegion or something) so you don't mess up the built-in regions. Look in the config.txt for your new region (I'm not sure off the top of my head how exactly it is called), and there is a setting for the default levers. Change that to the KUID of the lever you want to use.

If you use TS2009 and TS2010, you can use the replace assets tool to replace the generic switch lever with whatever one you want to use.

When I work on sections of my route, like a yard for example, I'll let the system place the generic read lever (switch lever). When I'm done placing track, I'll go in choose the one I want to use, and replace the red lever with that one. My choice has been CNR Yard switchstand 1, which looks pretty cool.

When it comes to the mainline, or other running track, I'll do the same thing, then replace the the switch lever with either the CNR Mainline Switchlever 1 or one of the automatic motors.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, now that I read this I remember reading something like that before. So,after I do this do I just go into surveyor options/edit route and change the region to my new one?

remember if you change levers en mass that is you name them you will lose the name or number of the lever

I found the region and cloned/renamed it, looked in the config file and there is a line that says defaultjunction 100634. I tried searching for that number in cmp and nothing came up. Do I take and change this number for the kuid # of the one I want to use? Do I type in "kuid....." or just the actual number without kuid in front of it?

Many of the built-in Auran-created assets just have the Asset ID in the kuid field. Trainz automatically renders such KUIDs with a User ID of -1. So Trainz translates that 100634 value in the KUID field above as <KUID:-1:100634>. ;)

You should write the new KUID with the correct "<KUID:xxxxx:xxxxx>" or "<KUID2:xxxxx:xxxxx:x>" format (which ever format the junction lever that you want uses), instead of the way that Auran did it for their assets, or else either Trainz will likely not find the lever, or something weird will happen. ;)

Ok ,Thanks. So once I get that done do I go into the config file for the route and just change the kuid number of the region? I remember when I started building the route it i could pick a region but there`s nowhere in edit route or edit session to change it.

Yes, you do. ;)

While on the CNR switch levers, some of them are too close to the track. Is there a way to make them to be a little bit more distant?

Can't see the "trackoffset" in the config file. Please take a look at the CNR short switch stand file and tell me where it is.. Thank you

Oops, I just looked at one of my own assets, and I just jogged my memory. Sorry. :o The field is actually the "trackside" field, not "trackoffsets". :o ;)
