Swing or Sliding Gate

Hello,

I am trying to find a way to have a chain link gate from a fence open and close automatically (swing or slide) as a train enters a fenced property on a business drop off... I am having trouble either finding one on the DLS or piecing together the components for it. I was thinking if I could find one for cars and ATLS I could make it work using triggers and invisible track, but maybe that doesn't exist.

Any thoughts are appreciated! If nothing else I'll just keep the gates open all the time...

Thanks!

I think Kevin Yutz (Yutzk) has made some. I use one on one of my routes. They work great. When the track is aligned for the mill yard where the train needs to drop off cars full of "stuff", the gate swings open and the train proceeds right through.

John is spot on with his post. So I'm only going to expand on what he said. I attach mine to the ATLS slave and controller so I can set the control point closer to the gate. And then just as John stated, the gate opens and closes on it's own. BTW, its called YZ Siding gate. Not trying be smart.:)

Excellent! I knew there had to be one out there. Downloaded and currently using Yutzk's with ATLS. It is perfect.

Thanks to all!

You can also search on SEN. I don't have the exact name now, but among the assets starting with that is a swing gate across a stub of tracks. You hook up your tracks to each side and it takes on that track. It automatically opens and closes when the train approaches without having to fiddle with ATLS triggers.

I have used ATLS for so many (complex) crossings on this project that it took all of 30 seconds to set up. :)

It wasn't required, but I used it to, as amrail2000 mentioned, precisely set the time of opening and closing of the gate (especially useful for if they should be different).

I used to use ATLS to create realistic road intersections near a station in TS2009 that looked cool from the trains. But when I tried using them in 12, I get an error that the build number is not supported in 12. Shame because they are a powerful tool.

Sukerfish ----> http://www.trainzpedro.cz/ The search link button is called "Hledej" Search for "Vrata" The two types are available. Also on the DLS, under the same name. Do a google search of that name and Trainz together and it should throw up more links. The term is East European and there are a lot of these assets about. Good luck.

That is not an error, it is just an advisory message. ATLS will work in all versions of Trainz from TRS 2004 SP4 to TS12 Sp1.

Just make sure you have all the latest versions. The versions 'built-in' to TS12 SP1 are not the latest and may cause problems.

DLS links to the latest versions are here. http://www.boatztrainz.co.uk/atls.html (Log into the Auran DLS first).

Hi, You can find your opening gate listed under 'Objects' tab with the name 'SEN CITY Siding Gate 2'. Now you don't even need to link it with ATLS, because it works on its own. I use it on most of my layouts. Just rotate it if you want it opening in or outwards. Cheers,

Hi Boat - Thanks, I will have to try it. I liked your grade crossings too. For those unfamiliar, other crossings require the train to be too close before they start to work, so with a fast-moving train, the loco is in the crossing and the gates aren't fully down yet! The ATLS allows the triggers to be placed far enough away for more realistic timings. Boat makes good stuff!

Roy3b3 - Yeah, that's the one I was referring to before. Thanks.
