Surveyor tips after upgrading from TRS04?

Okay, TANE is on my hard drive and I'm starting to work on a few simple routes to learn the system. Do you have any tips on things I'll have to relearn?
Content Manager seems okay for selecting items by name, but what do I do if I don't know the name of an item? Can I sort by region or type?
Are there any challenges when downloading I'll need to know?
And can you direct me to the instructions for setting up the Content Manager in the launch window? I saw it before and it looked handy.
Thanks for any advice.

Content Manger works similar to TS12, however, the interface is different.

Here are some things that will get you going in the right direction.

1) Right click on the column bar and add in all the columns, modified date, upload date (very important) asset kuid, and so on.

I find type and status to be very important and place both on the leftmost side of the screen.

- To resize the columns, click on the little bar and slide left or right.
- To move the columns, click on the name.

2) Setup some filters so they are quickly accessible

- Click on the space that shows installed, and you will see other filters already created. These are useful, however you need some others to help.
- To customize these, click on the small arrow on the left. This creates a pull-down which will give you a window with a + and - on the far left to add categories.

I recommend editing or customizing the Faulty filter because the faulty filter shows faulty as missing dependencies and faulty dependencies as well, which is confusing. I have created a filter for faulty only, by removing the other categories.

- Other filters - Obsolete and NOT built-in and Out-of-Date - true and not built-in.

These help with updating content.

3) Downloading. There is no download queue anymore so stuff gets downloaded singly and instantly, or in batches when a bunch of stuff is selected.

If you see something your like you can:

a) Double-click and choose download from the window.

or

b) Right-click and pick download.

If you see a bunch of stuff, highlight it, right-click and choose download.

4) Open for edit assets need to be Submitted.

5) You need to revert to original if an asset is overwritten when installing something that already exists.

6) You can have multiple individual windows for various tasks.

and....

There's no way to setup a shortcut off the launcher, unlike TS12 where CM was a separate program in T:ANE CM is part of the same.

This is about what I can think of right now. There's probably more stuff others can help you with.

That's great! I didn't quite finish what I was posting... I had a hard drive crash which took more pressing attention than posting here.

Surveyor is still Surveyor with a few neat new things.

Found under the Main menu is an update to the asset replace utility found in TS12, which now has been expanded with a progress bar, finally, along with some extra features like bulk replacing, updating, and can be set to work with specific layers, locations (baseboards or sections), and it's fairly quick.

There's a new utility, also found under the Main menu to add random scenery objects. You put them in a queue in a similar fashion to the bulk asset/update/delete utility, select an area or whole route, the percentage, and press the begin button. Your selection of assets will start appearing until you cancel. :)

A couple of things have changed though with the environmental settings which you should be aware of. The first is water, which will appear really, really odd on older routes which you import. You will need to adjust the water colors otherwise you may have tropical blue cyan colored water, or sometimes yellow water; it depends upon the color values. Be sure too to also adjust your fog as well because you now have a longer draw distance in both Driver and Surveyor so having less fog is really helpful.

There are probably a few others, but this will get you started, I think.

Thanks, that's a good start. I'll start setting up the CM to begin with.

Hello Claude, sir --

Great to see you around! I drop a note on your youtuve channel -- Great playing!!!:udrool:

About trainz -- John, here who replied, really knows his stuff ... a great helper!
Hopefully things work great! Read about your TANE due to computer sometime ago! Hopefully you do upgrade to run it -- With all of the stuff about TANE, overall, with the latest patch, TANE is second to none! Jut my 2 cents there!

Take care, be in great health ... I know ... me too!
