Surveyor Help Please

Hello,

I have a few things I am trying to figure out.

1.) I have heard about using "fixed track sections" to help lay perfectly straight track. Can somebody please tell me where I could go to find this:o

2.) I am wondering where I can get some good shrub/busch splines(high-quality or somewhat high-quality) Recommendations?

3.) Tips on putting down roads/bridges to achieve a nice realistic feel.

Anybody's help is appreciated very much.:)

1. I have TS2010 and there are plenty of fixed track segments to choose from. In the objects window, type in the search box "FT" and you will find them.
2. For shrubbery/bushes, go to the objects/splines window and type in the search box "JVC". You will see dozens of shruberry and grass splines.
3. Roads on slopes can be challenging but by setting a spline height for spline points on slopes, you lock in the heights and then by moving them around and smoothing the spline, you can achieve realistic cut and fill type road construction.
4. For bridges, lay out the bridge flat on the ground. Then, add two spline points midway between the ends. Determine the elevation of the ends of the bridge. Assume they are 100 meters. Now enter 106 meters or so to the adjust spline height and click on the intermediate spline points. Now you have a bridge with 6 meter clearance which is plenty for roads underneath. If you are running double-stacked container cars on track underneath, adjust if necessary.

Hi Sweitzerdude,
Could you keep dropping nuggets in every ten minutes??, this will give me time to print them out and make up a volume.
Just joking but this is useful stuff to us lesser mortals.

Thanks Ghost42

Thanks for the compliment, but I have only been running Trainz for less than two years, so I'm still a noob by most standards.

Have you read the users manual that came with 2006? The Surveyor In Depth chapter starts on page 62 and ends on page 153. Making staright track is as simple as clicking on the straight button and then clicking on the section of track you want to be straight.
