SURVEYOR FILTER

paul502

Day do doh dont day doh
I use mostly uk objects for making routes, & use the surveyor filter to do this. But how do you add non uk objects to the uk filter, is using CMP the only way to do this ? The thought of having to trawl through CMP fills me with dread !

This is just a wild guess, but cant you go into the KUID of the item(s) you want to change and simply change the REGION to "UK"? I would think that one of the parameters in the KUID directs it to where it will appear in the SURVEYOR. I remember once changing a kuid of children fishing because they did not show up under category PEOPLE. I apologize if this makes no sense:confused: .

Did you change the KUID in surveyor or in CMP? Am trying to avoid having to open CMP. It takes forever to find things in cmp even with its search filters!

I have TRS2004, and I go to the DISPATCHER folder, and then to the KUID I want. Dont know how to acces the dispatcher kuids in TRS2006. I am sure that someone here knows the specifics. Good luck.

To change region in 2006 . . .

You do it in CMP.

Go to "LOCATION" / "LOCAL" then click on the "+" sign. That brings up another row with "NAME" then a blank box . . . type in the object name you want to change. The object will appear in the big window.

Click and highlight the object . . . right-click again . . . then click on "Open for Edit" . . . click on the "Open for Edit" tab at the top . . . right click on object and click on "EDIT IN EXPLORER" . . . double click on "Config.txt" file . . . look for "region" then change the right ide to "UK" . . . "SAVE" then close the Explorer windows . . . right click on the object . . . click on "EDIT" then click on "COMMIT" You're done !

Thanks ,edion2, manjoe. Just one more question .Would it be better to place all the objects i want to change on a new surveyor map & edit from there, Is that possible ? i really dont want to spend weeks or months having to search through thousands of content in CMP.

Hello Paul502..........

I am at TRS2004, and it appears to me that TRS2006 is so far over my head that I am glad to stay at TRS2004. With so many assets still available at TRS2004, setting those up is no real problem for me. I am not at a position to comment on how to do this at the TRS2006 level. I just hope you are not trying to change a thousand assets. If it is only 50 to a 100, just get down and do it. At least you then have those assets assigned to the UK. :hehe:

I, myself, found 5 today, that I re-assigned. But in TRS2004, all I did was change the kuid. I guess TRS2006 is in another world !!!

Sorry to butt in and I know this will sound preachy, but your use of the term KUID in this case could be 'dangerously' misleading for those less experienced.

People refer loosely to KUIDs as the actual objects, but in reality KUID is the unique identity number for an object and you don't mess around with it. Even if you did, it would not change the region in Surveyor.

In TRS2004, the config tags to change are region and maybe also category-region-0. In TRS2006, I think they abolished region but still use something like category-region and that's what you change, as edion2 described.

We are lucky with TRS2004 in that we can alter the region of hundreds of objects at once using Trainzobjectz. With TRS2006, it sounds like the poor punters still have to edit objects one at a time with CMP.

Thanks, Dinorius Ridundicus, for your post. Please accept my sincere apologies for my mis-understanding of the problem. Have a great day.
