I sent a request to the Help Desk a week ago asking for access the the Support section of the forums. I got a reply two days later, but still can't see the forum. What should I try next?

Have you "signed in "to the forum?
If you log-in with user name and password you should be able to see the support forums.

did you send an email to the helpdesk at helpdesk at auran dot com? or use the online forum? if the email, it will have have gone straight to th trash bin.

also have you gone back to the helpdesk page, log in and see if you have a responce. I find that sometimes I find that I don't get the "you got a reply" email. and you shouldn't get an email telling you what teh responce is, just one saying there is a reply.

Well, obviously if I got a reply it didn't go to the trash bin. I see Blackwatch has been a member since November and still can't get to the support section, so I guess I have a real long wait. I was hoping forum admins would see this and axct quicker than the help desk.

I don`t think it`s something the moderaters can do, Alan Yeomans passed my problem to the helpdesk for me, but I`m still waiting for a result.

There's a level between moderator and website owner and that's the administrator(s). They have full control over the forum software, and the helpdesk told me that's who they were passing my request on to.

That`s another problem I have, I can`t even post on all the forums I can see.
Don`t see the point in letting a person sign in securely, and then not letting them have the use they were meant for.

Hi guys. I will pass some of the names along that are having issues here and will see if that helps. The problem is a bug in the software that seems to have appeared a little before the holidays. No idea on when it will be fixed. (No this isn't any kind of official word on the matter, just my observation...)

In the meantime wait and see and hopefully someone will get to it.

You can't post though (you should be able to see screenshots as well).

When I had this problem, I could see all forums except the support, but only post in this one.

Helpdesk kindly set things right for me within about three days, but there'll be no-one in on the weekend.

I remember back on my own board, we could set the automatic privilages, so perhaps someone at Auran has accidently reduced them, thus if they were reset the new users would be able to post without asking Helpdesk. We did it by adding members to groups - by default everyone went into a big pot labelled "students", and we had a second "moderator" group, into which the mods could go, then we had a third "footballer" group, for people who played football and had a seperate forum for such discussion.

The heirachy [sp?] was such that there was one admin, two permenant mods (one of which was me) and below that a series of forum-dependant mods. We had the power to edit user privilages, but it appears the mods here don't (even the super-mods).

Enough O/T waffle - I think the answer is that the default privilages are set wrong is my message.

Actually that is not so this end. Before I login I can see this forum but nothing below this one.
cheers

Yes, but you wouldn't be able to post until you signed in....not registering a serial number would limit access to all forums, but I imagine they would tell you that straightway if that was the problem....

you might try and see if there is a human at the other end of the "Contact Us" form (located at the bottom of this page) that might take you to the webbie.

Ah Silly me.
Not ever had this problem I had a wild estimation of the situation.
Here is another dodgy suggestion. Browser. Only a guess mind.
Summits gotta fix it. Long wait to Monday

if the helpdesk already know about it, give them time to sort it out.

if it's still not sorted by friday, drop them another form reminding them of your problem.

Ok, everyone in this thread who is having troubles logging in I have again sent your requests through to the forum administrator. Please understand that he has a variety of functions and roles to do and will attend to this as soon as convienent. Thanks for your patience on this issue.

Ah, finally I might be able to post ludicrous replies to the insane creations of dreddman:D
