Supertrain TRS v 5.5.5 - FAQ
Supertrain TRS v 5.5.5 FAQ
Q : Will this work on TRS 2004 & TRS 2006 ?
A : It was tested on both TRS 2004 & TRS 2006 to see if it works without too many issues converting from one to the other.
There are some minor issues, but they can be fixed by copying textures files from one train car to another train car, TRS 2006 doesn't like missing textures even if it's for older versions of Supertrain and said textures are no longer used by the current version of the train itself, meh.
For the most part everything looks nicer then it used to & isn't a resource hog like the previous versions of this were ( less polys for older comps running this stuff on 'em, gotta give folks w/ older systems a break yanno )
If anyone wants to do a high poly version of this thing feel free to do so, I won't do it as I tried many times to make a "Closer To The Real Thing Version" and never really got any where with it. ( complex curves are a mystery to me )
Q : Will this run on Trainz Classic & Up ?
A : No idea, but I was informed that if it works in TRS 2006 there shouldn't be any problems with it on Trainz Classic, as for beyond Trainz Classic, Unless there has been a major overhaul in the way the files are handled where they go and so forth and so on it should be fine, long as you put it where the game can find it easily.
Problem is I don't have anything over TRS 2006 to test this on as I can't find the games anywhere in this little hick town I live in, possibly should just buy 'em directly from Auran, NOT AS DIGITAL DOWNLOADS, I like having the discs handy JUST IN CASE of computer crashes due to whatever have you.
Q : Where are the tracks that go with this ?
A : On my website in my sig, as the tracks haven't been updated ONCE after making them for the train, the tracks were easier to make then the train itself, just needed a config file & the standard track texture, and that was pretty much it.
I made some minor tweeks to the config file but it was more for looks then anything major like an' even wider train then this one. ( yeah, right, like I'll make one after taking years just doing this one. )
Q : Every now and then you type It's just like the "Real" one in quotes just like that, why ?
A : Well, there was a "Real" Supertrain on the TV Show of the same name, It might of been a "Miniature" but it still ran on tracks, still was powered, even if it was powered like any other N / HO / O / G scale train & one couldn't ride on it for real, that doesn't make it any less real.
One could argue that with the "Sets" you could ride the train, it just didn't really go anywhere, well, until after post-production, then it would LOOK like it was moving even tho' it wasn't, Hollywood magic yanno.
There was also a "Standard Gauge Full Sized Supertrain" used ONLY in the Pilot episode, it was just an empty shell tho', they needed it for a typical chase on the roof of the train scene, Hollywood owns it's own Railroad, It's a circular track. ( Think of a cheap HO scale train set. ) Said railroad has been used many times in Films & TV shows. ( Most recently seen in Back To The Future Part ]|[ when Doc & Marty need to push the Time Machine )
The Train was the best thing about the TV show, the less said about the actors, scripts, plot, concepts, the better off you'll be, trust me I watched the show back in the day, it was pure cheese, but I was a big train freak at the time and would watch anything w/ trains in it, no matter how bad it was in other areas.
Q : Is Woulfe your real name ?
A : I refuse to answer that as it'd take a long time to tell why.
Short answer - I joined the 'net back in the days of TEXT only 'net and was worried about my identity being stolen ( still a problem in this day & age even ) and therefore wanted to come up with an "Alter Ego" to be online.
Needless to say also around this time I had also discovered Furry-Fandom and the rest as they say is history....
Q : What's up with the arrows & what not that you put after your - W - ?
A : Basically it's an ANSI version of the Supertrain stripes located on the Locomotive and the last consist of the Train itself, as far as I rememeber that's where they were located, the Supertrain fan site has more or less shown that this is true, even tho' I took a few liberties with the placements of them and the directions they face, on the last consist anyway, as there aren't any good pics of it, so I pointed them to the back, to be the reverse of the Loco were they point to the front end.
