Sumpter Valley RR 2-6-6-2

Bridge-n-trestle builder
The Uintah 2-6-6-2T has been available for quite some time but its conversion from a tank loco to a tender loco has (as far as I know) never been made for Trainz. I was looking for something else and came across a set of plans and a few photos of SV #251 2-6-6-2 on pages 54, 55, and 56 in the July, 1999 issue of Narrow Gauge & Shortline Gazette. The Sept, 1999 issue has some additional photos of it after it was sold to a railroad in Central America.

I'm not a loco builder but for anyone who might be interested this might be a source of info.

There are a fair number of photos floating around of both the original tank versions on the URY and the later conversion to tender locos on both the SVRR (and whatever that railroad was in Central America). What I never ran across before was plans for the tender version (side tanks removed).

Narrow Gauge in the Rockies by Beebe & Clegg has a photo or two of the tank version negotiating one of the URY's 66 degrees curves. Talk about boiler overhang in the front. A 66 degree curve is sharper then 18 inch radius in HO scale.

Oughta be a law against scrapping steam locos, lol.

Wasn't it exported to Central America? Generally, third-world countries do not have big railway preservation movements (India and South Africa excepted, though neither can really be classed as 'third-world' anymore) so it's no surprise that it was scrapped in the 70's.

Yup - and I can only assume they are the folks that put it to the torch (censored).

Look what the US Army did to the seven K-28's they (sort of confiscated) from the D&RGW and sent to the WP&Y for use during WW 2? Rather then return them they scrapped them (also censored).
