Very nice work Jetekol.

Hope these are the first of many more.

Brandon, I like the PA-4! Is that gMax work or a reskin(because I know that I've seen some Russian metro trains that look like it)? Awesome stuff!

Paint Shop Pro, Worth The Dough

Thanks, I used Corel Photo Paint 4 in the 80s and 90s, replaced it when it got obsoleted by long file names in 2001 with Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 - best money I ever spent on a graphics program, the lighting effects alone are well worth it.

NYCTA used the "trench and cover" method, in other words dig up the entire length of the street, lay track in a trench and build walls and a roof, fill the trench back in covering up the subway tunnel. Chicago bored tubes instead, consequently Chicago subways are round tubes, New York has mostly square tunnels. Makes it difficult to do a Chicago subway since most of the subway stuff was made for the NYCTA, but I have been making progress.

The agony and the tedium

After flipping a quarter, I decided to go with andi06's 5.6 meter wire tracks, so I made some clones of those to update and reskin, then spent the next week converting all the poles and sparks to match the new wire height. Laying track for four different yards went pretty quick after that - but what about support wires and poles? :'(

Overview of one of the yards, still working on adding poles and support wires after 3 days. At least it's not as time consuming as trying to get spline wires lined up with track, something like this would be impossible.

Simplest way to deal with the fixed object engine shops would be to use wire splines continued to the building face over the doors, can't find one of them double pole wire end gadgets for Trainz yet so this might be an alternate solution.

Players are gonna get lost in these, and watch out for the AI trains.

Two mainlines coming out of this yard, trick is finding the way out.

And of course the inevitable debugging, gotta raise the support girders. When version 3 will be ready I can't even say right now, hopefully before Christmas.

Lot of empty yard tracks in the four yards;

Fill those up in a session with real L/subway cars and it tanks the framerates due to all the physics being loaded for every loose consist car. Solution, static train objects;

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=76129

Can also be applied to L/subway trains.

White topped are the only real cars in the scene, framerates the same as without the static car objects.

If you're talking about the "NOT IN SERVICE" sign, it looks like an ordinary printed sign to me - what makes it look like an LED sign to you?
