stuck at signal

im stopped at a red signal, actually, .018 miles from it and am not sure what happens next. ive gone to map view and there is no oncoming traffic and all other ai trains are parked on sidings. what do i do? if i go on, i will get a rules violation.

sometimes, it's the 'navigate to...' which can't figure out a clear path to the next point? -- maybe a signal problem further down the line? try deleting the entrance to sidings until your driver continues...?

or, maybe you're driver's had a little too much relax-o-brew? : )

the driver needs a clear track to the next point, and something is confusing the driver/program? so, try driving manually through the switches to see if the train itself can move through them. probably, it will. then check out what might be keeping the train from moving through to the next signal. go into surveyor and open the route -- there'll be your track and your engine, and then ahead will be those signals, and you can Left-mouse over a signal and it will say what's up with the track ahead. one solution is to see what the driver does if you delete some of the sidings, deleting some signals with that...

i have a weird scene on my route, where the engine doesn't want to go into a portal with 'navigate to...' . it does everything it can, even opening a siding and going to no where. might be a Driver's Union thing...

but, this is on your own route or on one of the build-in routes? which one?

cripes, i won't have 2012 till the beginning of the month, and I can't DL that route with my version. Sorry. But, if you can, open it in surveyor and look at the signals.

Sometimes it is a problem with a signal itself.
UMR Summer 2010 had similar problems and the creator has redone the signalling.
Before that I went through and replaced offending signals and had no more problems.
Cheers,
Mike

When you say .018 miles from it, what do you mean? From the signal & if so which one or do you mean the odometer is at .018? I just ran through the Eastbound session without problem.

the distance to the red signal is .018. i got it working, but i had to go into map view and change a switch so the ai train could come through then after it passed me, my signal changed so i could proceed.

A better question to ask is, are you driving the train yourself or telling the train to drive itself via commands? Also, what is the exact name of the route and session in which this error is occurring, and can you provide a screenshot? (Press the "print screen" key in-game to take a screenshot. The screenshot gets saved into "<TS12-install-directory>/UserData/screenshots". The default TS12-install-directory is "C:\Program Files\N3V Games\TS12" for 32-bit systems and Windows XP, or "C:\Program Files (x86)\N3V Games\TS12" for 64-bit systems including Windows XP 64-bit.)

Since you're new, I'll also give you the same advice that works for me: Login to an administrator account and go to "C:\Program Files\N3V Games\TS12\bin". Right-click each .exe individually and select "Properties". On the Compatibility tab, check off "Run program as administrator", and hit OK. If User Account Control is enabled, follow the on-screen prompt in the affirmative to apply the changes. This should allow Trainz to run a bit more smoothly, though Trainz installed in any Program Files directory is sub-optimal. The point is, following this procedure should reduce the frequency and severity of problems with Trainz.

You can copy a "Form D" and get permission from the dispatcher to pass Stop Signal, driving manually, watching for trainz & track cars ahead. :hehe:Then resume AI operation once past the signal.
