Strange problem with commodities

Ok, this has happened before, but somehow got fixed and I don't remember how.

In surveyor, when I try to add commodities either to the "multiple industry new" track or to railcars, instead of the commodity list coming up, I just get a blank blue window with no choices.

I've tried doing both the quick and extended database repairs, as well as ensuring that nothing is "open for edit".

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, that doesn't seem to be installed. Is it possible that a single commodity could mess everything up like this? I had no idea. This is weird!

Hmm, open up the CMP and set search filters to Location = local and Category = products and see if there's a red exclamation mark in the list that's shown. If there is, that's the culprit, if not click in the top row of the list the column named date installed to order the list with newest first and delete the most recent items. (If that column isn't there right click the top row and add it)
Startup trainz and see if your commodity list has come back up. If not, repeat the last step until it does.
Tedious, I know, but there doesn't seem to be a better way.

Fantastic! Got it fixed. After the database repair, many pieces of rolling stock showed errors, which I know are not faulty. I did a mass "view errors" command, and sorted all that out, and then moved on to the commodities. There was nothing installed recently that showed as bad, but I did find one questionable commodity, and deleted it.

Now everything seems to work - weird how one little error can cause so much havoc! Thanks Jan, and everyone else too. Glad to have this sorted out!
