While I was editing scenery several missing asset orange boxes appeared. Also, at least one ground texture disappeared. Could the censors have submitted a list of "bad" items that were updated at the data-center at 0730 Eastern USA time.
Orange boxes are missing assets. Delete Missing assets will remove them.
It is possible that in painting the terrain you have uncovered missing textures (just a guess).
Changes to items on the DLS won't affect your system unless something gets downloaded. One possible way this can happen is if an automatic download of a new version invalidates other assets that depend on it. You can sort your installed assets by installation date to see if anything got installed at that time. Since it affected objects and a ground texture, some sort of local error, such as a disk drive error, seems more likely.
The only update today was my update of the route. Uncovering missing textures, in some way, may be possible. Never saw this before, but more of an interesting event than a disaster.
