Dear Train People,

Let's try and get all of the great american steam locomotives that we can. We have already failed in the real world by letting good steamers go to the torch. Let's keep the past alive for the great IRON HORSE.;) For train people they are usually attached too steam engines very well. Look at all the steam locomotives and the road #'s and put the past into the future.

WAY ahead of that, getting my cyclopedia christmas day, Model Railroader Cyclopedia Volume 1. It has NYC J3a drawings, a couple SP GS drawings, and some other stuff (including the SP&S 700-701 Northerns). will be starting a HUGE american steam project soon. Hope to get some others to join in :D

Dea Railfans,

First of all I would like to Thank MilwaukeeRoad261 for agreeing with me.:) At least I am not the only one who feels like America's Steamers mean alot more to us, than what some people think. I can find no problem seeing Steam Engines operating in mainline service with Diesels. And I'm not talking about Excursions but in Full Time Mainline Runs.

Thanks Again MilwaukeeRoad261

Thanks My Friend,

American Steam engines need a serious overhaul-Especially the UP Big Boy-WHAT WHERE WERE THEY THINKING!?
Are you implying: that all they "Needed Was"
Do you know what an complete overhaul of a replacement boiler entails ? Example: The PRR 1361 will never run ever again because of the extreme cost of an extensive multi million dollar overhaul. It now sits disassembled in Steamtown. The #1281, #611 all suffer the same fate ... dissasembled ... never to run again

I agree that the world is a poorer place without the steam locomotive. No child should be denied the thrill of witnessing a U.P. Big Boy or a NKP Berkshire charging down the tracks, steam and smoke belching from its stack... an experience that you just can't get from the diesels and electric engines of today. Thank goodness for railroad preservation societies that we at least can have the excursions on some of these great locomotives.

I understand why there are not more steam locos available for Trainz. Not being talented in the area of 3d modeling and animation, I highly respect those who are. The steamers are much more labor intensive than a diesel because of the many moving parts that are involved.

But I'd be willing to bet that if a really talented modeler were to put the time and effort needed to create a really great Berkshire, for instance, that many steam fans would be more than willing to shell out a few bucks for the opportunity to have it in their collection.

Pay Pal is a beautiful thing.

Roll on!
