steam locomotive washing

My gloves went black on my FIRST day at the MHR

We have the national collection's lord nelson at the mhr at the moment, and I had to clean the coupling hook and buffers (With some help, thanks guys!) and they ended up shiny silver :)

Did Nick show you how he does quartered buffers yet? I must do another Saturday turn, but with a job prospect in the future and no car, its rather hard to do.

Davy Jones chucked your cap on the mainline:D

I'd be very careful retriving it though, you need a FULL PTS or ask an adult to retrieve it for you. You know Jones has another nickname, don't you?
Nick Clark is the really... how do I put it? Hyperactive guy thats part of the footplate crew. As much as Tom is (and Keith is) as much as a lot of volunteers.

I orignally joined that group that has a container by the ash pit that loves their cups of tea.

We asked Dave Mold to get it because he had a PTS and no I dont know that Jones has a nickname. Ollie was in a mood yesterday but whats new?

It was obviously thankful that it didn't go on the main line but the look on david jones' face when it went on the track was priceless :hehe:

This should be renamed MHR shed talk topic. (Big Brothers Boiler shop... oh wait, thats under construction!)
Ollie is always in a mood, well, I use that term loosely, I don't know how to describe him, but he is best taken with a pinch of salt. Its like a facebook comment I left him about the Sommerset & Dorset, the first thing he said is "Oi WEN! You're dead!" which turned into a 2 hour political bash, while he was painting the smoke deflectors to the 9F.

When he sees me next, hes obviously going to go "Oi WEN! You're dead!", "Why?", "That comment on the Trainz Forum!"

(I'm trying to get across that he only means it scarastically, nothing too serious. :-) )

EDIT: First words, avoid mentioning the words Great Western Railway to Ollie in a negative sense! Trust me on that. Secondly, Martin (Platform staff at Ropley.) Avoid mentioning Bullieds in a negative sense, although the latter is rather funny, as his colleauges often poke jokes at him.

Martin: "Look, Southern are always on time!"
Someone Else: "Yeah, but still, its past its time."
