Spline definition

I need a simple definition of what a spline is and how you can use it ?

A spline is a stretchable segment, it can be track, or scenery ... etc.

Most splines can be driven on by a loco, or car.

Spline points are the circles that make up a curve, or a segmented straight section.

Spline points can be tugged about, raised or lowered, to go uphill, like a gradient.

Thanks for your quick reply. Documentation is not real good with Trainz. I have and old manual from Trainz 6 so I have to figure out what they are doing way back then to todays version.
I figure its a lot of trial and error to treak the layout the way you want it.
