Speedtrees a Joke, right?

I have to wait for the AVI issue to be fixed anyway.

BTW, I still think that the old style of tree shouldn't have been deep sixed like it was, since they still work quite well. (I run 09 in comp mode.)

BTW, I am really not looking forward to reinstalling all of my content again. (Local folder will probably take about 40 hrs again.) Oh well, I will probably get it when I upgrade to windows 7 for $30.00(Yay student discount) since I will end up having to do it anyway.

I dont get it

Why sit back and knock all of there hard work that they have spent months working on, overall i think 2010 looks great compared to previous versions

Can someone please explain what's going on with those trees?

Has the clock speed been set to maximum so that we're seeing a time-lapsed example of how they will grow over long periods of time.
Or maybe a setting somewhere that determines the growth speed.

I can't believe even Auran would sacrifice so much realism like this.

Smiley.

Those trees is whats new with the game? Pardon me, they are an pile o good ol loo. At least from an tree-knower's perspective, they look awful. Where do you see such corky bottle birches? Awful. And besides, they look all black and glitchy on OpenGL with ATI. Bad bad bad.

Hi Smileyman

In regards to trees appearing as if they are growing, please see the second paragraph of the first post in the release announcement, found here: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=48767
What, that's the ATI problem you were talking about?
I thought you meant graphical glitches. lol

Thanks for the reply.
Could you explain how the growing trees work in TRS2010?
Is the growth rate user-defined for instance.

Cheers.

I wouldn't mind having a few Speedtrees as foreground folliage, and JVC's fun stuff as the background scenery.

I would, if it really is that bad, use regular trees all around. After all, it should work in TS2010, right?

Well, like I said in another topic, I'm backing away finically, and because I want to see the show. I love the upgraded defaults...but...

...same old sounds.

Cheers,
Joshua

Trees that grow?
then wither and die
as I pass by,
because I use a card by ATI

Shakespeare eat your heart out. Trainz 2010 speedtrees would have sent Duncan mad.

Not to be immature, but epicmek, you put an idea in my head.

What if we drove the 645mph Jet Sled on the DLS in TS2010? Imagine the trees! :hehe:

Sorry, had to put that out there,
Joshua

I have found as with most all new products that it will take a bit of time for each person to get TS2010 working well. I have had to go thru lots of items and do small fixes to get them to work. I am quite happy with TS2010 and plan on using it exclusively.

Just because TS2010 comes with Speed Tree doesn't mean you have to use them. I am finding that using Speed Tree for trees up close to the trackage and then various third party trees for background works great.

With the Amazing variety of computers and setups out there I am amazed that any game released works on even 50% of of them. Give Auran time to work on some fixes. I wouldn't be suprised to see something in the next month or so.

I must agree about the birch trees being rubbish, but there are enough excellent trees ( Speedtree that is) to satisfy me, for now at least. Hopefully there will be some more yet to appear. John.

This may sound weird but the trees don't "scale" to the trains. The bark texture and leaves are too large. It is like the trains are OO/HO and the trees are O scale. That is the only way to describe them.

But then what do I know.

Harold

And you'll probally get your wish in the next release of what's fast becoming a consol game for 6 year olds ...

Aurans new motto .............. We do nothing for the serious gamer .

Actually, my concern with the screenshots I've seen is the quality of the grass. It seems to take us back to where we were in c.2006/7 before the Jankvis revolution.

My current layout makes extensive use of JVC grasses, so it looks like that'll have to stay in compatibility mode!:hehe:

Paul - it looks like 2010 is doing something different with alpha blended objects in Native Mode - they look damn good!! :D Honestly, even the old JVC trees look fantastic! Give it a bash and see how you get on with the grasses! :)

You do seem to need anti-aliasing enabled for it to work correctly though. (in game and in your video card control panel..)
