Speed Tree Substitutes

Thanks for these trees they look great. Whoever made the inbuilt Speedtrees didn't seem to know much about real trees. Often wondered if the N3V blokes had a good look at these monsrtosities before they foisted them on the customers.

Ain't that the truth. I offered N3V my services to correct, but refused.

N3V is not the first company to shun assistance. It is usually a result of the inbreeding of egos.

Anyhow, on my system I now have acceptable performance (compared to the crappy past). With the only "trainzoptions.txt" change of frame rates (FPS) locked at 25 the Dremmy Evansville route (lots of stuff on it) works quite well. "quite well" means that there are maybe 1 or 2 short seizures/pauses in a 15 minute session/scenario and maybe a similar number of very brief stutters.. I cannot drive a train due to boredom but I do enjoy superman style flying on the outside. It is like a model railroad but with tiny video cameras on the train. I have changed all of the trees to "clam1952"/Malc trees. Same for bushes.

The Evansville route is literally loaded with vegetation, grass splines and buildings. Compared to the many usual bland desert routes with old 2004 assets this is an excellent example of what can be done and still be useable on a mid-range PC.

i5-2500 4cores 3.3ghz not overclocked, 16gb of 1600 memory, nVidia GTX 550 video card 1gb memory, 750 W power supply, Cooler Master steel case with 4 fans. Oh, also an elderly operator. This system runs the Prepare 3D flight simulator from Lockheed Martin with no problems or stutters Using Orbx scenery.

======================
Started a session and stutters + pauses. I let it run for a few minutes. Then I restarted the session/scenario. Now it ran quite well. It seems that once the program has put the majority of assets, that have been needed, into the Cache it can quickly recall their characteristics as the program says "place a tree here".
