Speed of Trains

When I have AI trains running on their own, the speed is 18 MPH, is there any way to speed them up or is that what I have.

Hi Scott,

The default speed for trains is 40mph but if the route isn't signalled they will travel at about half that speed. If yours are travelling at 18mph under AI control then it is quite probable that you need some signals?

I find that if the train is running under a yellow, it runs at about half the posted speed or around 20mph if no posted speed. If the posted speed is 35 or less it will run at that speed.

I have also found that the AI seems to consider itself to be using signaled territory with other locomotives regardless of any additional locomotives and acts accordingly by operating under restricted speed.
