Something is wrong with my turnouts

I have 2010, and for some reason on downloaded maps only certain turnouts have levers. The strange thing is that if I go to the turnouts that don't have levers, and try to add them, they just show red arrows in both directions. I've tried moving the levers around all over the place but it wont let me place a working switch lever. I even tried different layers.

Even more strange is that if I try to delete the track and relay it, the turnout will still not work unless I do a few splines worth of track.

This is happening on the MoPac route as well as the Bridgeport Southern. The latter actually has absolutely no switch levers and required me to relay at least 30-40% of the track to get them down.

Anyone have an answer to this problem?

Joe,

This may have to do with an error in the graphics files for these items. Find out what turnout lever is used by selecting it in Surveyor and then checking the same item in Content Manager. The problem may simply be solved by converting a texture file.

Hi : The red arrows in both directions means that it is in the wrong position..Click on the "Track tab".."Trackside Mode tab"..click on Move tool and move switch stand into position..

Red Arrows

Aren't they a display flying group? Ha ha, only kidding.

Red arrows mean one of two things; first the lever is too far away from the point, but as you have tried this it is not the case.
Secondly that when you place a lever and it stays red it means there is already one allocated to that point (switch). In this case if it isn't showing it may well be a missing asset. Check for Missing Assets in CMP.

Find the route in Content Manager, right click it, and choose View Dependencies and look to see if there are any unknowns, (should be near or at the top of the list) any on the Download Station, or any that faulty or have faulty dependencies. Items on Download Station you can download. If any items are unknown then you can try searching the DLS website for the first two numbers from the KUID (select all Trainz versions) and if that doesn't work try Google, and last but not least post here. For faulty assets or assets with faulty dependencies, you can either fix them for Native mode (often not that hard, and there's a tutorial on fixing errors on the Trainz Resource Directory website) or turn on Compatibility mode in Trainz options. (Default is Native mode. Any faulty assets will not be loaded in Native mode, no matter how minor the error. Warnings don't count.)

In 2010 try using the replace asset tool in the drop down menu. Click on the double red arrows and from the flyout menu, if this shows up as a lever but without a thumbnail in the window, drag it from the flyout menu in to the 'Asset to relace' box. Select another lever, that does show a thumbnail, in to the 'Asset to replace with' box. I don't know if this works with a missing asset/dependency such as your lever as I haven't dowloaded a layout with this problem.. It's just a thought that might work...

I think Angela might be right. There are a handful of missing assets for both routes, none of which seem to be on the download station. I've sent a PM to sureshot28 about the MoPac route, there's at least 50 or so missing assets there (something is telling me they're 2006 builtin items).

So I guess until I hear from Sureshot28 I'll keep searching google for those assets. I wish I knew what switch lever it is I'm missing. I'm thinking it's one of those remote switches. The kind controlled electronically from the dispatcher. Ah well.
