Firstly, welcome the community of us nerds!:hehe:
Scenario's are stuffed in '10, you'll have to use sessions

All service packs seem to hang about halfway through, but whatever you do, don't cancel it! You'll need to re-install it!

Welcome to the forums

Any update for the later versions WILL take a long time, as there are several thousands of items built-in to the game, and it takes time to check these against any updates, and to update its own database with new items.

So be patient, it can take several hours !!

thank you kindly it does seem a bit bugged but its a nice way to spend a few hrs ......i will persevere with it ...lol i ended up doing a reinstall of it and as yet i havent patched as i tried twice to do sp2 and it failed both times so i am gettin plenty of practice at installing the game

DriverD,

You should be able to patch direct to SP3. Check out this thread and see if any of the patches match your current version.

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=59816

To check your installed version look in the bottom right hand corner of the Trainz Launcher menu (initial screen) for a 5 digit number. Then check the patches, the first number in the patch name is the "From" version and the second number is the "To" version (latest "To" version - 43434).

For less troublesome patching it's best to disable your Anti Virus program (physically disconnect from the internet first) - don't forget to enable AV again before reconnecting!

Make sure you are running Trainz and the patches as a Windows "Administrator" user.

As stated in previous posts Trainz patches can take a long time. Run the patch and leave the PC alone (e.g. run it overnight).

Sometimes (especially if you have had a failed patch or two) it may be worth uninstalling Trainz totally and then doing a clean install before patching. If you have created any content you wish to keep then then there are ways of saving this.

Some people who have had patch problems have got round them by using Windows Safe Mode (not sure if this applies to W7 though).

Trainz can be frustrating at times but I think you will find it's well worth the effort.

Cheers

Good idea DD Mine took six hours (sp3) and then redid the database. I tied my hands to a pole so I wouldn't touch the esc button.
