So... whats with the "Trainz Connections" section?

I just noticed a "Trainz Connections" section. Either I overlooked it for some time or it is recently added.

Anyone got a clue about what this section is about? Does it have forum and if so about what? Why dont I see them / do you see them?

Just read the Intro to Trainz Connections and it seems to me that these new forums are pretty much duplicating forums we already have.
Are there plans to close down the existing relevant forums to keep these topics under the Trainz Connections banner?

Naah, nothing will be closed down or duplicated. :)

Trainz Connection will publish articles and content submitted to us through the Trainz Journalist programme. Well, the forum section of Trainz Connection is just one platform of publication. As mentioned in the introduction post, we will short list quality articles/news/submissions and feature them in other more prominent parts to give them more spotlight.

We have already received some good entries from users...we are in the process of getting them published in these sections soon.

Hope that clears some of the questions? :)

Cheers,
Sidds

Hi Sidds,

It's nice to see you posting in sections other than Auran Announcements.

Here's something you may be able to answer (I realise it's slightly off-topic): Can the missing TS12 patches be added to the Service Packs page? At the moment, there are several TS12 users that are having issues finding the 46957/47059 to 48249 patches (and intermediate). I know you have a forum post in the Auran Announcements forum, but it appears that not many users are using that.

Also, I'm also looking forward to seeing what other community members write up about. Most of my posts (forum and blog) are technical related (patching, fixing certain Trainz issues etc) which would probably not be suitable for the section.

Hi Shane,

I will update the service packs page with the patch details. Will have to be Monday though. Yes, I don't think I have posted much outside the Beta Tester's and Announcement sections.....you will be seeing me active in Trainz Connections quite regularly now :)

If you can mail me some of your guides, I will check if I can create a dedicated 'How to' section for the beginners both inside as well as outside the forums. Use the same email address as trainz news, and it will get directed to me.

As long as they are easy to understand and have some screen shots supporting the text, it should be good.
Consider some of the installation/update guides for users who have no/limited experience with computers/trains; screen shots help a lot there.

Apart from that it's just the usual spell check and grammar. Email me a few of your existing ones and I will be able to comment on them further.

Cheers,
Sidds

N3V if you spent more time on perfecting the product and less time on thinking up daft ideas for extra forum.

Then you might actually move Trainz forward to a co-ordinated railway simulator.

As opposed to a hotch potch of half finished and half realised ideas.

IKB.

Strangely enough, we consider the forum as an important part of our product.

kind regards,

chris

Yeah, me too! But I'm certain you guys can walk and chew gum at the same time; who's to say you're not "perfecting the product" at the same time?;)

I agree. It's impossible to take every single eventuality into account - that's why we have the forums (and the blogs) to give advice and assistance. Hopefully, if I can sort out some of my guides and send them to N3V, it may even reduce the amount of potential problems.

Shane

I've just got to sort out what format is best for the submissions, then I will get to work. I'll probably start with the black texture one I think.

No idea why, 95% of people that frequent these forums. Have never worked in the rail industry and know absolutely nothing about it. Other than what they have read in books.

So how that can contribute to the development of TZ, i really don't know.

It's just more waffling and hot air.

It was not said that the forums are an important part of DEVELOPING the product, although they do have some part (my opinion). It was said that the forums are an important part OF the product, as offered to the end user.

While we're adding new features, can we also get IRC back? I really would like to see #Trainz IRC come back.
