So, what do I have?

I have a Trainz Gold Membership.

When I start Trainz the initial display header is labeled Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 launcher (only just noticed that).

The dialog display, however, is emblazoned with Trainz+ in Gold.

I thought this gave me fine HD (0.125) features, but apparently not ... the Trainz Shop is no help to me ... so how do I get the latest and greatest?

header is labeled Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022

The windows header for Trainz Plus will always show the latest Trainz (non-subscription retail) release name - in this case Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022. When TRS19 was the latest non-subscription retail release it showed Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019. When the next release appears (2026??) it will show Trainz Railroad Simulator 2026??.

You always use the graphic (Trainz+) in the Launcher and Start windows as your guide.

I also have Trainz Plus Gold and the word "Gold" does not appear anywhere. Its only effect is in the Install button which appears instead of the Purchase button on all DLC content in the Trainz Content Store.

Yes, you have access to HD grid, textures etc. Trainz Living Railroad and all of the DLC to download. To actually access that though, you need to be running the latest Trainz plus build or Trainz plus beta build.
133407 is the latest Trainz Plus beta build

A check for available Trainz updates advises no updates available ... perhaps my installation is at fault in some way and I should reinstall.

I'd check the update stream first. Mine says "Trainz Plus". There is also the regular TRS22, a TRS22 Beta, TRS22 Plus beta, and one called "Trainz Plus Alpha". The last one is an old early edition I believe.

Anyway, I think you should try "Trainz Plus".

Edit: I forgot to say my installation is 132284.

my build is 131950
That is the previous release for Trainz+ (Windows) as purchased from the Trainz Store.

The current latest release for Trainz+ (Windows) is 132284, again from the Trainz Store.

I would put in a ticket at Trainz Support (link at the top of this screen). If you have checked for updates - by clicking the Trainz Settings button on the Launcher, selecting the Install tab and clicking the Check for Trainz Updates.. button and got a "No updates" message - then be sure to tell them that because that will usually be the first question you will get from them.

Hey All
Just to confirm, the TRS22 and Trainz Plus editions are separate versions of Trainz. It is not possible to patch from one to the other; and as such to access Trainz Plus features you will need to separately install the Trainz Plus version from your MyTrainz account.

To update from 131950 (SP6) to 132284 (SP6 HF1) the stream must be set on "Beta".
That does not match my experience. The update from 131950 to 132284 update arrived without setting the stream to "beta".

The latest Windows Trainz Plus non-beta is b132284 which has no SP6/HF1 labels and the latest Windows Trainz Plus beta is (b134634 again with no SP6/HF1 labels. The latest Windows TRS22PE is b132285 with the labels SP6/HF1.

See the Trainz Wiki at Build_Numbers#TRS22_-_Trainz_Railroad_Simulator_2022_and_Trainz_Plus and scroll down to the bottom of that table. There are separate build numbers for the Mac, Steam (Windows), Steam (Mac) and Windows (Trainz Store) versions.

If your launcher say Trainz Plus then you have Trainz Plus. If you want the Beta version of Trainz Plus, you need click on the Trainz Settings button, then on the Install tab. Then click the Change Trainz update stream button. Click the Next button twice, it will tell you your current Stream which should be Trainz Plus. If it isn't then you don't have Trainz Plus installed. Do as N3VSupport says and download it from your MyTrainz account page.
Click the Change Stream... button and choose Trainz Plus Beta and choose OK then Done.

When you start Trainz Plus after the update then open Surveyor. It may come up in Surveyor 2.0 or in Classic Surveyor depending on what you last used. HD Terrian is only available in Surveyor 2.0. If you are in Surveyor 2.0 then scroll the compass to the edge of the baseboard. If there is nothing beneath the baseboard then you are on an HD Terrain baseboard. You have to change the ground texture to Grid if you are seeing the grass texture. Go to the Display window at the top menu bar and choose Ground>Grid. You should now see grid of tiny squares. To learn how to use Surveyor 2.0, I recommend Pware's excellent wiki page which I'm sure he will provide a direct link to shortly.

I had to set stream to "Trainz Plus Beta" to be able to update from 131950 to 132284. This was last year in September on day 1, perhaps things have now changed. Edit: it is now the normal stream (confirmed in this post).

The latest Windows Trainz Plus non-beta is b132284 which has no SP6/HF1 labels

The Trainz Wiki is incomplete as it doesn't mention what SPs are Trainz + builds (I wonder why). The information is only given via annoucements. 132284 is SP6 HF1 (it was only annouced here). An example here that confirms 131950 is SP6 (so what would you think the next update - 132284 - could be if not HF1 as SP7 doesn't exists yet?).

The story so far ...

Firstly, thank you everyone for your help and interest.

All I was trying to do in the route in question was to smooth spline height ... which returned the HD Editing Not Permitted dialogue. Anyway, I left a help ticket with Trainz Support, and they came back advising me that I must install Trainz Plus before I can edit HD, and instructed me how to do so ... which was no help as I already had Trainz Plus installed.

Anyway, that response prompted me to uninstall Trainz Plus and reinstall ... something was obviously wrong though, in that uninstalling Trainz Plus also zapped Tane and TRS19. No panic, everything backed up.

So I installed Trainz Plus and, lo and behold, it confirmed an update was available which upgraded my build to 132284.

Going back to try to smooth spline height in the route in question, however, I got the same HD Editing Not Permitted dialogue ... which left me scratching my head until I wondered if the issue was system wide. So I opened a couple of other routes and smoothing spline height did not return an error message.

I've now replaced the track with one that has a built in embankment, which fixes the few places where the track hovers over terrain.

Life is full of mystery ...

I suspect that HD editing is only available in Surveyor 2.0 (or at least I have never tried it in Surveyor Classic which I never use any more).

Also, another possibility is that the original route you are editing may have been at 10m or 5m resolution, not HD. You would have to convert the entire route to HD before you can edit it in HD - but be aware that converting a lower resolution route to HD will blow out its file size enormously. The Upgraded HD Route will be about 5x the size of a 10m resolution route which could easily push it over the size limit (1GB) for saving as a .cdp file.

Trainz is a full mystery: today I made a new installation of Trainz Plus via the full offline installer (build 131950). Then, with the stream set as "Trainz Plus" by default, it said "No updates available". I had to modify it to "Trainz Plus Beta" to get to 132284.
