So um...

... I got a movie made and uploaded to Youtube, but if I'm linking it here I'm sure the moral... err... moderators will give me hell for it. Took a trip on a steam train a while back and filmed out of the window as another steam train passed on the other track. So um... now what do I do!?

Bloody typos! :hehe:

Nope, not at all. But you gotta check the whole friggen page for profanities or links to pages with profanities. And there may just be a link that won't make it through. Don't feel like getting the boot again for something I deem insignificant but others apparently don't. :hehe:

as long as there is nothing "wrong" in the video (or audio) you can link it without all the other stuff on the page. Here is how (I used the Cabon Classic Vid for an example):

On the page for the video find where it gives you the HTML link:

(Big Pic; click to enlarge)

copy that to a blank page in notepad or word, etc

(again big pic; click to....)

find where it says:
HTML:
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sKIw2-ZBk6c&hl=en&fs=1&">
(The part after "/v/" will be different for each video but look similar)

copy the http:// part all the way to the close parenthesis

then paste it here (with the URL tags):
http://www.youtube.com/v/sKIw2-ZBk6c&hl=en&fs=1&

Edit/PS: There is also a way to amend said link to link to the HD version of a vid; as well as a way to make it automatically start playing. But I don't remember how to do that.

What kind of feedback do you want? I can't guess what the monitors would do, and I don't know a different way for you to link it, frankly, I didn't know there was a video posting issue...

I had someone check them there linkies, Euphod. No worries. :)

As for posting video links and issues: I posted a video link on IRC a couple of weeks ago and immediately got the ole boot up my hiney because someone had left a profane comment on the video page. Now call me stupid but when I'm looking at a video link I watch the video and right after I hit the X on the browser window. But apparently I was supposed to read through all 600+ comments before linking. So after my third and final warning I figured I'd best leave the IRC server before I'd get hit with the banstick. :hehe:

Well if you had read the Code of Conduct you would have known that...

code of conduct said:
3. Submitting messages that display or link to content that contains inappropriate or vulgar language, pornographic or sexually offensive material.

Yeah, sometimes a mistake is just a mistake though. I was "disciplined" (oh...ahh!) once for posting a picture with a hosting site that directed those clicking on your thumbnail to an unseemly place. I corrected the error right away, but an error it still was...:hehe:

@PerRock: that code of cunduct thing is all nice and all, but uh... do you read the EULA of your Windows installment too, and stick to every letter of it? And if you know someone's using an illegal copy you take him to the police? Me personally I don't think you do... :hehe:

@Euphod: I've been chatting on IRC for over 10 years and hung out in a family channel, where I've been an operator for about 9 years. Quite often you'd get kids peeking in as well and that's where we would go to strict mode when it comes to language used. At some point you get a bit of a feeling for when there's minors around, the way they talk/act/behave. With no minors around we'd be taking it easier, relax, kick back, enjoy the show. That's what I think is using common sense. In #Trainz the only people in there were adults.... ohwell! :hehe:

Thats a bad comparison. If you want to compare the CoC to something; compare it to your local driving law book. If you don't follow those laws you will get some points; and then if you contiune to, you will loose your license. Just like the CoC; if you don't follow it you get some infraction points. and if you contiue to not follow it you will get banned.

Ah yeah, Australian company, Australian "law" eh? :o

I agree to disagree with you. :p

Anywho, it doesn't matter. To each their own. You like your chat G-rated, that's fine. I think the G-rated thing is okay too but, in my opinion, the enforcement in some places is done up to a point where it's complete and utter excrement of male cattle. :o
