Weddin Rte / Merging of NSW fictional Routes this week.

Good Monday all,


It has been a busy week, fixing and repairing some old items around the house. Now will start the week anew, and try and build a Wooden Garden Bench in an unused area of our yard. The problem here in lies, which type do I pick to build, and what type of wood for out door use? Plan on Staining it, not painting the wood, using some Marine Spar Varnish or similar.....Will see how it goes.

As for the foot, it is coming around. I just have to be patient and respectful otherwise Pain will return......

World's Worst Railroad Track (2020)
"This newly reformed railroad known as the Rock Island Railroad located in the Mississippi Delta has brought new life to this little short line railroad. Since the acquisition of the railroad in 2018 the line has gone through much needed maintenance although some bad areas can still be seen and operated."


And this may be the same Rail Line 7 years earlier.....Makes one wonder how they keep these Tracks open........

This route is based on Jake's NSWGR Humula. It is a fictional NSW country branch line as found in many parts of NSW until the early 1970's. I have depicted the branch running off the main Sydney to Melbourne line running light passenger and freight to the mythical township of Melaney.

Picking up some Tender Load of Coal today.



Now will head out and pick up a waiting freight of Empty Coal units headed back to the Mines for Reload.


Loaded up and headed to the mines with Rake of Cars, as evening is approaching...


Switch engine is giving a good push to some full Coal Cars going up the load our Bins.

Looks like Summer is going on Broil for the next 3-4 days, and as we heat up to 110 Degrees, today a Forest Fire broke out in the deep Mountain Canyons, from our window, and 20 miles across, we can see the Bright Flames of the Fire as it burns up the Hill Side. Last week we had a fire in this same area and out in San Bernardino Forest area too.......

The debut of Rio Grande Southern, 4-6-0, #20! Freight and passenger runs.

This is the first official revenue train, for the recently restored, Rio Grande Southern, #20. The locomotive is a coal burning, three foot gauge, 4-6-0 type locomotive built by Schenectady Locomotive Works in 1899 for the Florence and Cripple Creek. It was last run in 1951. This is one of Americas longest and most costly steam locomotive restorations taking over 14 years and costing over $1.5 million dollars. The locomotive is now home at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado where it will be steamed up on special occasions, and run on about 1/3 of a mile of circle track.


The locomotive looked like it just came out of the factory this day. The locomotive performed very well with no issues to be seen or heard. Passenger trains were pulled first followed by some freight runs. Despite the steep 4% grade near the station, I did not see the locomotive slip wheels which is a real rarity for that location. We are grabbing some Diesel Fuel before we load up some heavy Ore Cars today.

Got a reverse move into the Mining Camp up the hill. That little Sandwich shop across from the Tracks looks real tasty for Lunch....Need to call our Order in and pick it up later this afternoon...Num, Num!


About a 2% grade here as we back up into the Fueling area


It's a hot dry day in the Midwest Desert.


Don't laugh, its paid for and these little Santa Fe's are old reliable's to us......Even the Engineer's seats still look decent from all the years of work these Loco's have done for us.


This is our way out of the Canyon, and we better have good air and brakes otherwise will shoot across the Mainlines and into some buildings. However we have well qualified Enginners working these parts of the Line. I see a Clear Dwarf Light ahead.,,,,,,Dispatch has us lined up.


Looks like the weather is in our favor today, as we look out our Window, and doing some Shunting moves.


Do to weight and Grade here, we need 3 Engines to handle the weight and braking needs going downhill from the Mine Stipple.


Here is the multi Ore Load, Red Iron, Sulfer and Silica....We have some good diversity here in Mining products.

Well hope everyone is getting along OK with this awful Heat, looks like at least another 2 weeks of it. Our Friend, Mr High Pressure is parked nicely on 4 Corner State, Ca, Nev, AZ, UT. So we don't get a lot of breeze our way much.


And our State, California just went into emergency too. Governor Newsom addresses California wildfires, West Coast heat wave affecting other States too.

I have watched this week, our San Gabriel and other Mountain Ranges get fires, almost come under control, then the Heat index take off, and the Fires just explode into new areas.....Very sad....Pray for all Fire Fighters as this is ongoing in other parts of the US as well........

Over at the Merge Route, using some old SP power to shove a few rakes of Box Cars to our valuable Shipping Clients.


C&O trio Power pulling in our daily rake of cars.......Another few miles and they'll be in our Sort Yard downtown.


And here we are coming in strong, better slow down or will pass right on thru.....LOL



This is huge Storage and Transfer Building, takes about 50 cars every other day, sometimes daily when Markets demand.


And here is one of those days we are switching some 75 carloads in/out of this facility. Originally I had single mainline with 2 Spurs leading into each side of the building. Later on, I needed to move Mainline over and add siding to handle all the shunting.


My little Steam Loco is putting a strong foot on the Rail as it pulls a very heavy rake of Carloads.


On the other end, we have our Caboose to protect the rear, I use Fred's, but I will also have my Caboose whenever, and wherever possible.

Over here is a Cold Frozen Foods operation one of many on our line.....


Yes that is correct, we still believe in keeping some Steam Power around.

Time to think/ You Tube/ 1950's Glory Years Valley Run

Good Wednesday Evening all,


I'm going to share a little life story that occurred these last two weeks. It all started when one of my in-laws has reached the age of 80 and diagnosed with Dementia and few other life threatening diseases.

So the process began too find an assisted living place; once completed my in-law would have the appropriate care for them. Never easy when something like this develops, and the family has to deal with difficult job of helping a family member in need due to aging and health issues.

Unfortunately another one of my in-laws who has been fighting Lung issue, possibly Cancer, ended up in the hospital with breathing issues, only to pass the next day. They had received some bad news about their lungs late last year, but we didn't expect them to pass so soon, and so unexpectedly.

When these types of things occur over a short period of time, one tends to look at their own life, have I got all my papers in order so to speak. Reason being, when one of your family passes, do you know what their final burial wishes are? In the one who passed, not all the burial issues and other items were known. And it made it very uncomfortable for remaining family members to deal with.


Definitely gives pause for serious thought.

The old signals seen at the beginning of the video are quite rare. These were originally semaphore signals (which is why they are so high) and later converted to search light signals. The small silver box near the switch stand at 0:54 is a safety device and is also uncommon. It has a lever than when activated, locks the switch for a certain amount of time before it can be thrown. Good evening all,

IT has been a good week for me, my foot, particularly the heal portion, has finally after 3 months, healed now, with only minor discomfort of the Plantar Tendon. I have to say, I now really understand why Athletes and others wear KT Tape for Sports and other related injuries. Like a bad Sprain or fractured bone, etc, that is splinted too reduce extended movement of the injured area. KT Tape when applied correctly for the last month or so, made all the difference in the healing process, as well, I not a young pup, so I'm sure the resiliency of healing is much slower and more pronounced with Age Delay.

This week I played with the Logging Tramway, the little Climax Loco, can do the job.......

I found some more PRR period Rolling Stock to add to the Route.

This at the end of the Route, will head East with our loads. Nice looking River goes along next to the Rails.


On e of our Freights is headed uphill on a large overland "Y" you don't want to derail on this height for sure.

As is typical with anyone's Route, this bridge was transparent, and I just did a "Revert to Original" command, we now have solid Concrete to see instead of Ghost Bridge.


We have our work orders, nice hot coffee, all is well.....


Dispatch has the Route clear for a while, probably one Passenger train or two, will take the siding for them to pass.

We make the Grade now, things will level for a bit, then downhill at the next turn and into the Yards for Sorting.

In Yard Limits now, time to slow up a bit from 45 MPH to 20 MPH and then to 10 once inside the yard.

Running up a 3.74% grade here with a good head of Steam........Weather is good for now, but I hear some storms will come in tomorrow.......We can use the Rain, pretty dry around here now. Don't need any forest fires to complicate things.....

We made our trip in good time, were at the end of the line and will back in to break up our trainloads to various drop off points near this yard.

I don't know how it is in other area's but out here on the West Coast, So California area, it is blazing hot, 104 yesterday, 111 today, I think our Low was 79, grrrr......For those of you who can stand the heat, and enjoy it, my hat is off to you, I hope you never get Sun Stroke as I have over the years, 3x times. It is no fun, and in some cases, can be deadly.


Tuesday tonight, we are on Fire Watch in San Gabriel Valley, unfortunately for us, our nasty Friend the Santa Ana Winds, return, and with all the fires going on at the minute in West Coast, these fires could over run their boundaries and race down the mountains into our valleys and into the City's causing horrible devastation and destruction of property and peoples lives at risk.....

Everyone is very uneasy about this, weather pattern from Mr High Pressure system has setup once again on Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona State area......We have more problems with this constant reoccuring high pressure ridge in this four state area.....Similar like Hurricane Alley Louisiana, Texas and Florida, except they get nailed with Hurricanes instead...........So we say a prayer for all the areas affected by this terrible weather.........


I am praying that maybe somehow, some way we get some type of Rain. On the brighter side, we made a Garden Bench this week, to cover an old missing Diving board that was broken by a Family member fooling around with it. They over sprang the board, and it cracked in half, fortunately due to being a strong fiborglass no one was hurt......20 yrs ago, our Diving board cost 1000$, can't imagine what it would cost. But now we have a nice Garden seat to use.

After playing with Feather River Version for TRS2019, finding some Textures, Roads, Trees, etc missing, I decided it was time to have a tree-peat, Triple Merge party.....Took Cajon Pass (Non Dem), 1950's Glory Years Routes and strung them together with some extra Tiles connections........

Fair amount of rebuilding Terrain colors, Roads missing intersections, looks like they are corrupted.


I started working on missing Ballast and Canyon Wall areas, using some colors similar to what was around. I think it will work....All the Trees are gone, but there are while lines to help me replant the splines.

Merge Point here, I have added tiles to buffer edge dropoff issues.......Other parts of Merge Points will need some various tiles here and there once I take some train rides and

Merge point here, it is divided by mountain Backdrop, so on one side it matches nicely with Forested part of other Route, on Desert Side, it looks like group of mountains faraway as you travel through rugged Desert.....Backdrops work well when placed properly.........And there is a wide selection of them on DLS, plus ones for Building or Hard Scape backdrops too......


Other side of Merge Point I had to find a good spot to run track into the next Route, and so here, I had the right elevation, and space to add another Tunnel on Left. So tunnel on Right continues on to East with tip of this Route, and new Route Tunnel heads straight North and right over some low Mountains, then down into a Valley into Farm areas........All I needed to due, was move some trees around to clear the tracks, and put a Bridge over River Crossing after exiting Tunnel on other side....Worked perfect. and max grade is 1.25% or something....


This is one of the points of merge, where I need to blend Desert into Forest area, I might just run the Desert to that next Mountain in the Forground top middle of the picture.....Tracks are in, so I can start running Trains for Signal placements........Going to take some time to get everything situated on this 3 piece merge, but I think it will work OK once I get missing items situated and or replaced by other assets......If nothing else, it's a good challenge and diversion from these Fires we have through out the State.....

Fires on West Coast / 1950's merge Etc

Good Day all,

Been one heck of Fire Week, so much Smoke and Damage on the whole West Coast, and for that fact across the Country too. Last night around 8PM or so we had a Fire start in the hills about 1.5 miles from our house, seeing how it was night time, 70 degrees or so, I think it was intentionally started,, or someone had an accident? They are looking for clues, fortunately, there was a Fire Station with in 2-3 mins of the Fire, and they jumped on it. Got it out........I hope they find out how it started and the responsible party.

Next week we are supposed to have around 200 Air Quality, so looks like more time spent inside, the Garden will have to wait till Air Quality gets better, I know it is bad, as I can feel it in my Lungs when I'm outside........Crazy stuff......Hope all of you are doing OK with these terrible Fires......We pray for those, especially a City in Oregon that got wiped out I believe this week?

Ruston and Hornsby tandem locomotives 165DE 0-4-0s 421439 and 423658, were both offered for tender as part of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society’s reorganization of unused exhibits, but no group seemed much interested on taking on the pair. However Jordan Thompson owner of the Thompson Loco Collection stepped in to save the unique tandem locomotives with help from Andrew Briddon The locomotives were built in 1958 for the former Colvilles Limited Clyde Ironworks in Glasgow. The tandem system allowed the locomotives to be controlled by one driver giving a 4 axle 330hp locomotive which could also be used as 2 separate 165hp locomotives for use on lighter duties. This gave them great flexibility for use in the iron-works with its varied duties.

Highest trestle in America over a navigable water way at 308 feet above the Kentucky River! High Bridge, Kentucky. Double track Norfolk Southern main line known as The Rate Hole Line goes over the trestle on the Cincinnati to Chattanooga line. This busy railroad is owned by Cincinnati and leased to NS. Close to 40 trains a day cross this line and call the signals on 160.950 and use 452.940 for the end of train device ( FRED ). This trestle was built in 1911 and uses the original concrete and rock bases constructed in 1876 for the original bridge. The bridge is 1,125 feet long and was double tracked in 1929. It was the tallest bridge in the world until the early 20th century. High Bridge park was reopened in 2005 after being closed since the mid 60s. It has an open air dance pavilion, a playground, a viewing platform that over looks the bridge, some rocks and some other junk that I didn't pay any attention to. We saw 5 trains in the 4 hours that we were there. The last time I went through High Bridge was in a boxcar back in the mid 90s. Lol! This is a very difficult place to film trains. Trees make it impossible to film on the north west side of the trestle and the late after noon sun shines right at the viewing platform on the south east side. It is very difficult to film trains here unless you have a drone or you film in the winter. This trestle is located at MP 103 on the CNO&TP with Cincinnati being MP 0. Filmed September 5, 2020 CE.

Over to my Merge Project Feather River, Cajon Pass and 1950's Glory Years.

Been working on Tree reduction to improve Frame rate, and adding Scenery Texture to the extra spacing Tiles I needed to add.......



Thia is the East end of the 1950's Glory Days Route, added 4 Tiles to the Right of the Page. Extended the Waterway for more Ships I want to put in.


This is the West side of the River on the East end of the Route.


This is overhead view,, The Seaport had Rail to Ship on Dock, but not a Rail connection made to the Port, so I did a Round about with some spure Factories on Right, will allow for a lot of Shunting near and on the Waterway here. Looking to the left, it goes straight into a large Rail Yard to make up our Consists, and is shared with lots of Passenger Train equipment too, which gives us lots of Variety. Passenger Trains do not go past the Yard to Wharf Spur lines, so that works elegantly here for my needs.

This is the Wharf and Docking area for now, Spur tracks in place, haven't run on them yet, so there's that? Will see how it works......I might add to Wharf area later on. For now, I need to balance the Three Route connections appropriately. Should work out well......


Put a lot of Period Switchers and other Diesel and Steam Loco's Etc.

Our Smoke ends up in Washington D.C. / UMR 2020 Photos

Good day all,

Well it appears that all the Wildfire smoke from West Coast and some of Western edge of Midwest has made it all the way to Wash D.C. this week. Today was slightly better for us, but then towards Sunset, you could see a swath of Smoke and Haze coming off our local Mountains.

Aftermath of the collision of NS 143 and NS 25A (Please read the description)

On 10/8/19 NS 25A was heading south through Hamilton OH at approximately 1:30 am. There was a dense fog in the area and it is unknown what signals awaited the train as it made its way south and then east on the NS New Castle District. What is known is that just beyond the second signal they came to on the NS (Mosler Holdout) sat the rear end of NS 143.
NS 25A failed to stop and rear ended the 143 damaging both lead locomotives from 25A and the car immediately behind them and the three rear cars of the 143 derailing them. The eastern most car was a wood chip car and was re railed.
The western pair were tankers containing Butane gas and they took the brunt of the hit. Both cars and locomotives were smashed together and could not be separated at the scene. Once the main body of the trains were pulled away from the wreckage they drug the whole pile up back west to a siding track called the Hamilton Yard Track. Here it took quiet a while to separate. This video shows the rest of 25A being taken back North to a siding in Camden, the locomotives being pulled to the siding, and the separation of the cars and locomotives. The crew is ok from both trains with one member of 25A going to the hospital with minor injuries.

This is the scene after a train collided with a truck in Duluth, Georgia. Locomotives were on the ground and debris was everywhere. It’s amazing and fortunate the people involved in this accident only suffered minor injuries. The locomotive at the head-end of the train, a Norfolk Southern SD70ACC, had been rebuilt several months before this accident.

Peebles-East End Action On Short Line Railroad Cincinnati Eastern Railroad, N&W Branch, Part 1

Short line railroad action on the east end of Cincinnati Eastern Railroad! More storage cars were taken near the end of line past Peebles, Ohio. This old Norfolk & Western Railway branch line is owned by Norfolk Southern and leased to CCET. The train has 2 General Electric B36-7 locomotives that came from TTI which is owned by CSX. 3 days prior to this video the train came to Peebles and shut down on the main line for the weekend. The flat cars were being taken east to the Peebles passing siding where all but 3 of them were spotted for storage. The 3 that didn't fit there were taken back west toward Afton Yard. The boxcars came from Huhtamaki and the covered hopper came from Mount Carmel Group behind Huhtamaki. I filmed the train on Monday, September 14, 2020. First we see the train eastbound going under Nixon Ave on the east side of Peebles, Ohio. The train went a short distance past this spot and reversed into the passing siding to spot all but 3 of the flat cars. After that the train headed back westbound with a locomotive on each end. The 2nd shot is crossing Main Street in downtown Peebles.


Over at UMR2020, (Ultra Mega Route) we are pulling a coal load with BNS and DR&G Heritage Style......


If I recall correctly, we are backing into the other side of Branch-line off the Main. Signals on this Route work very well.

Hope everyone is doing ok with all this bad fires going on, we almost had all our TV and Radio Antennas burned out on Mount Wilson, Fires came very close to the Antenna Farm. Fortunately, our heroic Fire Fighters were on scene with Water Drops and everthing else they could muster. Diverting the Fire. Now the high Desert has caught some fire. Two trains, one westbound and the other eastbound pass through Old Saddle Rock on Canadian Pacific's Cascade Subdivision along British Columbia's Fraser River on July 6, 1995. The video features a bonus clip featuring an eastbound coal train passing through Squilax on the Sushwap Sub.


2 Trains Passing Abandoned Depot! Short Line Railroad Indiana & Ohio Railway, I&O Midland Sub, Ohio

Rare to have 2 trains passing the old abandoned train depot at the same time! Short line railroading at its best! Indiana And Ohio Railway had a short local switching freight show up to work the Greenfield branch and a long empty rock train passing on its way to Melvin Stone which is just north of Wilmington, Ohio. The rock train is on the main line of the Midland Sub that runs from Cincinnati to Columbus, Ohio. I&O got this line from CSX. The short local freight train did some switching in Midland and then passed the old train station on its way to Candle-Lite in Leesburg, Ohio. It is on the Greenfield Branch which is owned by the town of Greenfield and leased to I&O. This line has a 10 mph speed limit but grant money was given to the line to replace ties, rework some crossings and other work to bring the line up to 25 mph. Amtrak use to run on this line in the 70s. I filmed this on June 9, 2020.

CIND 2342 leads the CF&E interchange on CSX tracks in Lima. This is the last time I shot 2342 before it was transferred to another railroad.

Heading to the docks with some loads, and pick up some other Scrap loads......



SD9 unit coming up from the Docks with loaded Scrap Gons. This area has been signalized and there working pretty good.



Old Boys pulling the new Wharf Loads out. And will hookup to our Caboose on the side over there....


MOW of Gons with ties for other areas of the Route.


Dropped in another Passing siding, so Trains could leave Cars and Cabooses there when shunting Cars in this area.....Also dropped in a small 60 foot single track turntable for turning our Steam Power around when it heads out of this area......Our Diesels run in tandem units, with one facing opposing direction, so Engineer only needs to change Cabs for proper directional control. Works well. I don't mind our Steam shunting from reverse direction, but I don't want them coming back up the main in Reverse. So we turn them around once they have finished there Shunts and ready to head back to main Rail Yards or other areas East of here. This area is the end of the Railroad for now, but that could change later if I and some other tiles to connect in the valley behind the mountains ahead. Long ways from now, it's possible bucket list. I have lots of repairs and missing Textures on the Feather River portion of this merge. This side is !950's Glory days here.....


Need to put up Crossing Protection here....Better drop in some Crossing Bucks real quick here.....OOPS....


Headed into Yard Limits where will wait for Dispatch to clear us for next leg of the Route.


They may be old, but they still run good, old reliable s got the power to move the loads.

That do it for tonight, its past my bedtime.....Much to do the next few days, going on a Road Trip with Grand Kids...That should be lots of fun, and some good diversion from these Fires.....Do us some good to get it, we been cooped up with all this bad Smoke in the valley.....

UPDATE: Agree on the weather, we went into Lake Tahoe around New Year 2018/2019 and got caught in a nasty Snow Storm trying to get into Sacramento, Ca. We knew about the Storm Warnings 5 days before we left and were confident we would be OK. However what we didn't expect, was the potential for 36 inches of Snow in 2 days, was eminent.

Saving grace,

I talked to local who had lived and worked in Tahoe area, asked him about this storm, he told us, you better leave now, else, plan on staying up to week till the Snow Plows can get the roads open. Our checkout date was the next day, Sunday...Hmm wonder how this would have worked out.....?

So we jumped on it, 7:30 AM, and by 9:30 AM, took time to get our stuff packed, check out of Hotel etc. We got down halfway on the hill, and it snowed so heavy in that area, had to stop and put chains on. We barely got down the rest of the hill, with Semi's and Vehicles crashing into the Mountain and Snow Drifts as the Winter Storm stalled in our area.....One guy up there with us, was looking out his Drivers window, slipping down the Highway, almost hit us, with no Chains....we almost hit another car with our Chains on.....Doing 10-15MPH.......I mean it was crazy......

And we made it to our Friends house in Sacramento 1900hrs, but State closed the Highway we came in on.....80 Truckee, I think, at 1900hrs, not to open, till 0500hrs the next morning......

So we were very lucky........But it could have turned deadly......

One Couple from Sacramento area ? Got stuck on highway in a Snow Drift for 9-10 hrs, almost froze to death.......Car was one of those low profile ones that you'd never use in snow storm.........

So there you have it my friend......

As for the Route, wow, humongous, the largest Route I have is 1.3 Gig, and I had to trim it back on Plants and some Tiles, because my Laptop was just about crashing with that size Route..... Name of Route withheld to protect the innocent until proven? LOL.

So at the size you have or will have, sounds like you have one vivid imagination going on with that Route............

Yeah, kids do grow up fast (at least that's what my parents said lol) and before you know it, they are already grown up and ready to go out there in the real world, how times flies (well, sometimes, not all the time). Hope your trip goes well

As for the route...
Performance is what I'm keeping an eye on, but that doesn't always happen, as sometimes the details gets out of hand.. oh well I tried..
The size currently is at 1175.0MB, which is about 1.14GB in size. I estimate once the route is completed, it'll be 2.5-3GB - talk about a large trainz route!

Just got back from dropping our Grand kid off in College, one of the ones that almost got burned out in the massive fires in Central California. Praise to the firefighters who went a country mile to save both the City and a very old College.....

So we are headed out tomorrow Morning to see some Family in Colorado that we haven't seen since last year, got to hit the road early as it was over 100 degrees here today in San Gabriel Valley, I thought it was Fall last Tuesday, guess mother nature didn't get the memo.....

Special trains crossing the diamonds in Marion, Ohio. Train with a New York Central caboose, continuous welded rail ( CWR ) maintenance of way train, Savannah & Erie NS Heritage Unit and a Norfolk Southern local freight. CSX and Norfolk Southern have 8 railroad diamonds here right behind the Marion Union station. These were my favorite trains that I filmed while visiting this popular rail fan spot with my friend Scott. We spent most of the day here on September 16, 2020. We saw about 22 trains total on the 2 CSX lines and Norfolk Southern line. I'm going to make another video to show the long mixed freights, unit tank car trains and inter-modal trains that we saw. We also got to see inside of AC Tower, the model train layout and inside the main train station. This is one of the best places in Ohio for train spotters. It is just north of Columbus.

Americas favorite short line railroad Cincinnati Eastern Railroad abandons the use of its most famous and biggest locomotive EMD SD 45-2 #332. This locomotive was involved in a fatal train wreck shortly after it was built. It was built for Erie Lackawanna in 1970 as an SDP 45 and rebuilt as an SD 45-2. It went to Columbia And Walla Walla Railroad in Washington State. On September 4, 2020 it was seen passing westbound through Elkhart, Indiana. This video starts with a short grain train passing through Williamsburg, Ohio on September 22, 2020. Then I added a few scenes of the 332 that I never posted. There is another 6 axle SD 45 ( #330 ) on CCET but it is stored near Newtown and I have rarely seen it in use. I do have some videos of it. I hate to see 332 go because it was really awesome to watch and it added some color to the line. Thanks for watching! Check out my steam train playlist for some really cool videos! Lhoist North America's scenic rail line runs sixteen miles from Crab Orchard to Rockwood, Tennessee. With tall bridges, a tunnel, scenic vistas, and a long history, this railroad is one of the Volunteer State's unique short line operations.

Trying this out on another portion of the Route. It I recall, this one has experimental Engine in it....



This is picture of a Mining Operation somewhere in the US. Where I don't know. I think it is really cool looking setup......If anyone recognizes let me know, I would like to learn more about this one. It peaks my curiosity.....

Mining Iron Ore on New England Merge/ Denver Colorado coming tomorrow

Evening all from Durango and other surrounding areas of Colorado,

We had an uneventful trip thru Arizona, New Mexico on our way up. Sad thing, we did get delayed for an over turned RV Trailer on 6% grade. Looks like they lost control of their downhill speed.......Fortunately first responders were arrived quickly to help with some injuries in the crash......

Believe it or not, there is some Smoke and Haze up here from West Coast fires. Locals here are surprized by amount of Haze that is still in the air. And days are 84 degrees, nights below freezing sometimes. Beautiful Fall Colors appearing on trees and other Shrubs.

Santa Fe GP20 pair on the ND&W Railroad switches Napoleon PREX 3001 Maumee and Western Railroad

PREX 3001 and PREX 2026, both ex ATSF GP20 locomotives work on the Napoleon Defiance and Western Railroad. On this April day I filmed them pulling empty boxcars from one of the cold storage warehouses in Napoleon Ohio. The warehouses receive tomato paste which is trucked across the river to the Campbell's soup factory. I then followed the train west as far as Okolona. The track has seen many ties replaced in Napoleon since the last time I filmed here. Also in Okolona the switch to the grain mill has been removed on the west end. They are still connected on the east end but I haven't seen the receive cars recently.

Denver Colorado / Loss of a friend to Covid-19/ You Tube Selections

Hello from Denver Colorado,

I hope all of you are well and holding steady during these difficult and perilous times were in. Last week, and I meant to mention this, a long time Friend of our In-Laws succumbed to Covid-19, it looked like they were on the rebound, and 3 days later the Lord took them from us. As they say, one never knows when there time will come. So I say a prayer for all of you each and every day. That this thing will go away, so we can get on with our Lives......

Tomorrow we say so long to our last stop too have some quality time with extended family members, of whom we haven't seen for a few years. It felt wonderful to see them. All are well.

Early in the morning, will start our 1200 mile trip back home on the Road with a couple of overnight stops here and there. Up here there is amazing Geology, beautiful natural and Volcanic Rock sightings. And of course the Fall tree colors to boot, you can't beat that.........

A 10/10 Mine On The Abandoned Mine Scale

I don’t casually throw around a 10/10 on the Abandoned Mine Scale. In fact, I had to struggle to come up with even 5 mines I have visited that earned that official designation. However, this mine has it all – intact square set timbering, history, a complex layout, intact square set timbering, an interesting geological mix, cool artifacts, intact square set timbering, remarkable displays of mining talent… Did I mention the intact square set timbering?

I have been inside of literally hundreds of abandoned mines now and this is the FIRST time that I have ever seen intact square set timbering. That’s how rare it is! Even if I take into account collapsed square set timbering, I can only think of two mines that had it. And if I include mines that I know about, but have not visited, I can only think of one mine that has intact square set timbering. Square set timbering is really a lost art and is not something a mine explorer will encounter often.

Abandoned Railway Deep In The Woods Of Maine With Dozens Of Freight Cars

Trail at 2:00 Trains at 13:00 Tram at 41:00 Filmed on May 29th 2020 oh, these trains were purchased in the 1920s from New York and transported to Quebec Canada where they were disassembled and brought to their place of operation on the Eagle Lake West Branch Railway disassembled in pieces on ice roads across the lakes with trucks.

Short Line Railroad Switching, Shoving Train Into Customer, Ohio Branch Line Railroad Action!

Short line railway local with MP15DC switcher arriving to switch one of their new customers on the railroad branch line known as the Peavine Line. First we see the train climbing the steep grade out of Williamsburg, Ohio. Next we see them cut off the lead EMD locomotive and part of the train on the mainline so that the rear GE locomotive can shove into the customer at Batavia, Ohio. We see the train entering the customer spur with a couple cars that would not fit between the crossing and the spur switch. Then I threw in a clip of both GE B36-7s on a longer train that I had never posted. Final shot is one of my favorite shots of the year. Don't miss the recent video of this one. They pulled their caboose out of the siding to swap it around with the GP49 that sits next to it. Small NG Logging Route of mailine with some Shay Power. Little guy goes up I believe 3-5% or more grade with Empties and hit top of mountain, and bring in the Log Loads.

Above is the over head view of NG Logging Route.....I intend to expend it over the hill into more area for Logging and whatever else we find to bring money and work to little operation here.

As we pull up the grade, you can see we got a few old tree Stumps. Liike to see them pulled out....LOL Probably won't ever happen......But there is always hope on the Horizon!
