Sinking level crossings

rastis

3Ds MAX will be my demise
G'day!

I dunno if people have complained about this before but, the level corssings are sinking through the track. In surveryor, everythings is fine, the roads and track connect to the spline points on the crossing normally, then, in driver, it has sunk through again. It is incredibly daft and frustrating. :n: The crossing I encountered this bug was NZR Level Xing Unprotected. Is ther eany fix to this annoying glitch?

Cheers. :(

Jake.

I don't have this problem rastis, but then I use a little technique to stop it!

When you lay your crossing, attach the track and roads, do you use the "leveller" tool to bring the ground to the same level as the track? (On the track toolbar, the icon for this tool is a red and white bar.)

You find the same tool available in the spline toolbar and I tend to use it on the roads as well as the railway so as not ton see the floating roads phenomenon!

Hope that helps!

One other tip with level crossings, use the terrain tool to raise the crossing (it won't respond to the height arrow) until the spline points are at the same height as splines of the track you wish to join (usually about 0.2m higher than the terrain height under the "smoothed" track).

Obviously a bit trickier where there are gradients as you can't tilt the crossing but just use your best judgement.

Another tip when laying the road sections is keep the initial section at the same height as the spline point on the crossing, i.e. zero gradient.
