Single train spawns

Hello all I was wondering if it`s possible for like just 1 consist to come from like a portal instead of 10 of the same exact train. I was also wondering if it`s like possible for trains to come from portals with loads such as coal and stack containers thank`s.

You should be able to setup a portal for a single consist. Then set the interval to be like 1 hour instead of every 20 minutes. This would keep the traffic count down, and appear to be a single train.

With the loads, there are pre-filled coal hoppers, which you can then send on to a power plant, and then have an empty coal train return back. I'm sure this is the same with containers too, but I haven't done much with them other than full trains of containers.

As far as setting up full loads of goods, other than pre-filled cars, I'm not sure. I haven't done much with portals in quite some time since my route is still in the build and rebuild stage, and doesn't have any portals included anymore.

When you are setting up the portal and consist, assign a driver to the consist and insert the load command at the start.

Not sure why you would want to use a portal if you only want one train to appear. Placing a train in a hidden siding or in a tunnel with a long delay for the first command should have the same effect.

However if you just want a variety of spawned trains and not have them all be all the same, then you will need to program a variety of trains to be produced. The portal will send them out in random order.

If you want complete control of your portals, use pguy's Quick Portal Manager V3 Rule. One rule will control all your portals. You can program them to emit a specific train at a specific time from a specific portal on a specific day. You can also have trains assigned to a portal but unscheduled and then schedule them in Driver.

And as tom said, use the load driver command to get your cars loaded.

Thank`s for all the responses. Reason is for one such train is for somewhat prototypical reason. Same consist can be handy in some cases like for stack trains and coal though. Just odd for like manifest or mixed freights.

As Dap said pguy's Quick Portal Manager Rule is the way to go, might take you a little while to get the hang it but I will do pretty much anything you want.

I use a command called "Instant Load" this will fully load your train with the commodity's it needs or requires...

To use "Instant Load", find the portal you want to use, then assign trains and drivers to the portal, and in the commands section, before you place any commands on what to do, place the "Instant Load" command in, this will then fully load your train as leaves the portal.

If you don't see "Instant Load" in the commands, go to FILE at the top of the screen in Surveyor, then scroll down to Edit Session, then go to Driver Commands, click on to the driver commands folder, and then scroll down the list of commands until you come to "Instant Load" box, then click on the box, this then should give you the command in surveyor and in driver.

Hope this helps

I don't know about the load command after leaving the portal i've always got a massage need to give a drive to command before load.
Instand load command will load the default load of the car(s).So if you go to load a box car or a gondola it may not load what you want. Most box cars load General goods as default. Most gondolas load coad by default.
So many cars have the same config txt.files as to what they load. It would be nice if soneone would take one of there cars and change the config file to load something else as a default load.
As i said before it is very upsetting to have a car load with something that you have no place to unload it.
Now Hert made some flat cars (CSX)about 25 that will only load one product per-car.these are nice because you know that if you send these cars to a IND that only the cars that set to load will load what the IND is produces. Also the instand load works good to load each car properly.

I have found that it is not difficult to modify the config.txt file to change the product that gets loaded. Just change the first product in the first queue to load what you want.
