I got an offer to take up TRAINZ PLUS for one month free which I did. I gave my Paypal details and now after a few days I get an email saying that the SILVERFREE was missing from the newsletter. So I log in to try and upgrade to SILVERFREE but it seems not possible. I clicked on the upgrade to Silver Membership and was immediately charged nine dollars on my Paypal account with no option to enter the code.

There seemed no other way of upgrading for free. Does this seem right to anyone?

Why would you want Silver if you applied for Plus. Silver is a downgrade and not needed for Plus.
 
Why would they offer SILVER and TRAINZ PLUS if one was a downgrade?

Some people consider it a "downgrade" because they are wanting app features, not content. But as I said above, and as the chart shows, there is a BIG difference. Silver gives you access to all DLS content, Plus does not. But Plus gives you the new and latest app features that Silver does not. Just depends what you want. Or, you can go Gold and get both.
 
When I got to the page where my credit card or PayPay details were required I backed out.

My concern is that the first month is free, but then what happens afterwards? Am I charged on a monthly basis if I don't take steps to cancel? In which case it becomes an opt out process, which I detest.

You can cancel as soon as your membership goes through but will still have access until your month is up. This saves trying to remember to cancel.
 
When I tried to sign up for the free Plus monthly offer I couldn't find where I was supposed to put the discount code either so I just thought, 'What the hell', and went ahead and did the 'rent-a-sim' monthly payment option. But it was slightly annoying to be given a free code and the discover there was nowhere in My Trainz to actually put the darn thing.

No, email dated 10th April amended on the 11th.

Can't see how it would work adding Silver to Plus as that would equate to Gold?

The codes are entered when checking out on the actual payment screen or should be.
