Signals

Hiya All,

On the track I've been wondering about the many types of signals that come up. I know that red means stop, yellow means stop at next signal and green means proceed, but where the signal occurs is what makes me wonder. Some signal posts have 1, 2 or 3 lights on them. I gathered that if there is 1 light the signal that it shows is the signal to obey. But with 2 or 3, I have no idea which one to follow.

Also some signal posts have a diagonal line above them. What does this mean.

If anyone can help me out, please post.

Thanks!!!

The diagonal lines are for a junction signal. If it points to the left, and is lit up, that means that the track to the left is whatever aspect the signal is displaying.

The lights can point to the left, right or both ways, for a "Y" junction.

Hope this helps!

No doubt there are some old signalmen out there, but the UK signals also have two yellow lights on a four aspect signal, indicating that the next signal is at caution.
Trainz script has many possibilities of signal generation. For full information you can open up your signal.gs script file and see the code. Do not change the code. Do not save the file after viewing it, as you may curse yourself if something goes wrong.

It may help you to understand a little more.

Also Research also "Block signalling" so that you can understand how it works.

Oldcustard,

In older versions of Trainz, there was a Signalling Guide in the Docs folder that explained the built-in Auran signals (including the multi-light ones). In UTC it was in the root Trainz\Docs folder (the Docs folder is a subfolder in your Trainz installation directory), but in TRS2004 it is in the TRS2004\Docs\manuals_cd\manuals folder. I do not know where it is in the Trainz versions after TRS2004 (including TS2010).

Regards.

Damon:eek:

I'm getting no warnings linking to this helpful site. Not today, or at any other time that I've used it.

I'd also like to know what the warnings are, and what software is saying there is a problem ..
