Signal name display in S2

Hello,

Apparently the names of the signals no longer appear on screen with a mouse-over in S2, whichever tool one uses (eyedropper, move tool etc.) I found it extremely useful in S1. The junctions still show their names; why not the signals?
Maybe I have overlooked some option in a menu?

In S2 you move the mouse pointer onto an object and then hold down the Alt key to reveal the asset name. Keep the Alt key held down for a few seconds and its <kuid> and creator name will also appear.

@hutten, if you are referring to the actual junction name being displayed - for example, 'Up Home' etc, then yes this behaves exactly as it did in S1 however the text does become fainter sooner, so you have to be closer to the signal to see it. But both junctions and signals display their name when hovering over them.

Cheers,

PLP

In S1 Junction names are always visible and signal names appear when hovering the pointer over them. In S2 junction names will appear when you hover the pointer over them but the signal names will only appear (in the Info Palette) if you click on them - this also applies to all objects.

Trackmark and Trigger names will only appear in S1 if you have the Track Tool open and the Trackmark mode on. In S2 they appear automatically.

Personally, I prefer the S2 system because in S1 the names are often lost in the "clutter" of spline circles and other names. But others may have different opinions.

Thanks pware, so the difference is there as I described it.
I found the signal names appearing in large font very useful when making IT paths. When the world is looked at at an oblique angle, the spline circles do not get in the way. I simply do not see why they changed this.

I simply do not see why they changed this.
I suspect to "de-clutter" the scene when in Surveyor. The main culprit was obviously the spline circles, a source of many complaints, which they reduced to a small black dot in S2. The small size of the dots initially generated complaints, including from me. They slightly increased the size of the dots for a set number of spline segments on each side of a selected spline and that did help (a fair bit). I suspect that users have simply gotten used to them now because the complaints seem to have disappeared.

I do prefer the uncluttered appearance of the scene in S2 compared to S1.
