Signal Aspect Diagrams?

AMTRAKwannabe

Norfolk & Western Lives
Hi, I am looking for diagrams of signal aspects. I want aspect diagrams/charts for the Safetrans & Searchlights (JR's, from the operating rules they are based off) and the G Style Tri-Lights (SAXRT's, want the same as JR). I have tried google but can't find anything and even if I did I wouldn't know if it was from the right rulebook...

Thanks in advance,

Amtrakwannabe, you'll get more useful results if you specify the railroad you're modeling and the era , since the signals are hardware, and can be configured to conform to the practices of the purchasing railroad. I'd encourage you to specify the particular railroad (and era) that you are modeling, and seek signal aspect diagrams for them, and failing to get a response to that query, checking with the historical society of that railroad (which I expect would have copies of the rulebook).

The signals are based off of Norfolk Southern operating rules, but they pretty much follow the industry standard NORAC rules. Since Ryan's (SAXRT) G-head Tri-Lights follow JR scripts, you're looking at the same thing either way.

This is by far one of the best articles about railroad signalling. Includes basic diagrams with calling names, aspects, indications, and explanation.

Thanks guys! This is a HUGE help for me, I'm looking to create a kind of signal database if you will, collecting diagrams and such to look up for identifying signals on a route. I also use them when creating a route so I know which signals to use where...

Feel free to contact me whenever you're planning signal placements on a route. I'd be more than happy to help if you provide pictures or diagrams of the track work.

Cheers,
Joshua
