Show off your reskins!

You've been pretty quiet recently, n8phu, have you been fixing anymore of SPORBUST's content or any other Trainz-related things? I was hoping you'd fix up his Norfolk Southern SD70M-2 or CSX SD70ACe's when you announced that you were fixing his content.

Oh no! Not only has he been fixing sporbust content, but he's been breaking it again as well! And swapping out the turbos for explosives!! AND swapping EMD prime movers for alcos!!!!

Thanks very much guys for the enthusiastic comments! :)
Still a lot of detail to add or to improve. And a weathered version of course...

That's a fantastic reskin Felix! May I ask how you add the baking to the textures? [...]
Thank you! Baking is drawn freehand in Photoshop... actually this is no big deal once I have figured out the areas it has to be applied. The "fake" detail parts not modelled in 3D are much more time consuming.

Wow Felix! I know N8PHU had converted an RS-18u for Trainz, but I honestly thought you had made a completely new model just for the #186 (as in not a reskin).

Very very VERY impressive work, especially since you had no reskinnable model to work from.

You might have me hooked again! :hehe:

Keep up the great work.

Thanks Dave... that was the target! ;)

To be honest I don't see a need at all for a new 3D model, and I like the challenge to get the maximum out of an existing one by reskinning.
If you ask me the majority of creators still spends too much time and effort in 3D modeling but doesn't care that much about texture work. The Trainz universe is full already of pretty high detailed models with almost uniform textures. But that's just my opinion... each creator shall do how he can best.

That CVSR one looks great!
If you say you are not quite happy yet, take your time and add a little bit every few days or so... in between take it for a spin in Driver and have a look at what could be improved.

I see I need to get that blank RS-18U out..... way too many good artists out there that need to exhibit their work.

Nice CVSR skin (<== Akron Ohio kid)

While I believe that there is an importance to the model itself, I agree: The model is the canvas.... the devil is in the details! There are a lot of good "low quality" assets out there that can really shine (or not shine, depending on how weathered they are!) given enough attention to the texturing!!
