Show off your reskins!

Error: Lock failed for source texture 'hash-1e\copytempsrcmwirj2ri26\rs3_undec_body\rs3_main.convert-tex' in subst 'local'

So...I'm getting this error when I try to drop my new textures into the RS-3/RSD-4/RSD-5 folders. Any insight?

Thanks

DJ

There is an alpha texture (I think it's called main_alpha) which has to be the same size as your main texture... so probably you'll have to resize one or the other.

Hey guys. I've done a bit of work reskinning with pre-made templates, but recently, I've wanted to create a reskin of a unit that does not come with an undecorated version.

Is there any easy way to keep detail while removing most, if not all of the paint currently on the unit?

To keep in-line with the thread, I have this paint scheme I want to place on an ES44AC:

I know the answer is probably "No, not simply. It would take a blank template..."
Thanks anyways!

There are plenty of other threads around here about reskinning, so I won't bog this screenshot thread down with it, but short story, you would have to do all of your own detail work, using the base texture as a pattern.

You could use Photoshop (or similar) to desaturate the color from the existing skin, then use that as a detail overlay with edited opacity and lighting types. Tricky to do and really depends on the model.

ATSF854, what exactly did you change? My eyes can't tell anything different between both except for the Numberboard change. I'm also surprised to see how fast you had the 6920's Special Paint job done so quickly, can't wait to see a release in the future!
