Setting Lift Bridge

I am using TS2009 and am trying to place Lift Bridge 1 in my layout.
Having placed the bridge I then connect the rail to the end point of the bridge and the rail extends right across the gap inthe bridge so that I have a permanent rail extending across the gap.I Have used other layouts where this is not the case. How can I set the bridge without getting a permanent rail across the gap.

Ron,

Did you mean my model Bascule Lift Bridge 1? The model is TRS2004 and a change to the program code for later Trainz versions made the track update to match the attached track, as you say.

The model had been updated to keep the track invisible across the gap, make sure you use the latest version, kuid2:60238:27201:2. You will need to delete and replace any placed bridges in a route, to make sure the new version model shows correctly.

Ian,

I fixed a Bascule lift bridge that was not yours by putting a tiny piece of invisible track between the railbed track and the bridge. I was being lazy and didn't want to edit the config.txt to use a specific invisible track.

Hi John,

For early models the track specified across a bridge by the creator remained the same, invisible. Later Auran introduced the useadjoiningtracktype 0 tag in the config, if you did not use it, it updated, and you would need to set it to 0 to stop it updating to that of the attached track across the span.

If a creator had not followed these rules for a bridge, you can join some invisible track to the model, it would update to that track across the span. You then delete the invisible track just placed and join the one you want to use, to the model. As the track on the model updates only the once, it will not update again, and the invisible track then remains across the span.

Is there a method of causing a signal placed at the bridge to display stop when the bridge is open, and green when closed?

Johnny

I wonder if one couldn't use the ATLS system in someway to control the bridge & a signal notification on the bridge's status?
