Setting KUID numbers

I have many routes I have built for versions 2004 and 2009. I am beginning to build routes in TS2010, but I find that the kuid numbers for these routes are identical to some of my other routes in 2004 and 2009 which now presents a conflict when I try to import them into 2010.

I have tried to change the default setting in kuid.txt under the settings folder to something like: base-kuid <kuid:xxxxxxxx:2000>, hoping that my new routes will begin numbering at 2000, however this does not seem to be working.

Any suggestions on what needs to be done to change the the default kuid numbers for new routes.

Find the route in CM2, and open it for edit in explorer. Then, open the config.txt file for edit with the text editor of your choice, and edit your KUID number as you wish. Save the file from the text editor, commit the edited route, and it should show up with the new KUID.

Thanks for the input. What do I do about the session that goes along with the route. I guess I need to edit it also so that it now knows which route it belongs to.

Paul Yes you do. Edit the map kuid in the session to your new route kuid. Always ckeck the kuid numbers at the bottom of the config in case they need changing too.

Massive bump. I have exactly the same problem - CM is clobbering the KUIDs of a ton of content I want to update. I've set the base-kuid to 888000 or something to avoid conflict, but CM conveniently ignores it and allocates one in the 1xxx range.

How do we get it to update?

Cheers

Charlie,

CM3 looks for the first unused number in the TS2010 database in the 1000+ area. Consequently we can't nominate a KUID number to start.. Like you I have assets made in 4 versions of trains and previously I able to have a separate kuid range for each version.. Not any more I'm affraid.

We have complained about this to no avail so far..

Load your system up with all your content and CM will ignore their numbers. Someone at Auran thought it was a good idea without thinking through the implications. I was lucky, I have never used numbers between 1000 and 2000. I use drag and drop from an external folder so I have the freedom to assign any number I want.
