setting default commands

Hi all,
I was wondering if there was a way to pre-set what session commands I want to use without needing to re-select them every time I edit the route?

Cheers
Craig.

Not sure if you are talking about Session Rules or Driver Commands.

With Session Rules in the Session Editor, there is a default set of rules that appear when a new Session is created from scratch. You add to these rules using the Add button and, provided you save the Session, those additional Rules will appear in the Session Editor when you next reload the Session. There is no way (that I know of) you can have your preferred set of "default" rules preloaded into the Session Editor when you start a brand new Session.

Driver Commands are added using the Driver Command Rule and, provided you select the commands you want and save the Session, then those commands will be present when you next reload the Session. Again there is no way (that I know of) you can have your preferred set of "default" commands preloaded into the Driver Command Rule when you start a brand new Session.

My thoughts.

EDIT: You can set up a saved "dummy session" with all the Rules and Commands you need and then save that "dummy session" as a new Session with a different name as the Session you need. The disadvantage here is that you cannot do this when the "dummy session" is attached to a different route without fiddling with kuids and config.txt files (always dangerous).

I think the "dummy session" can be edited and the commands copied by highlighting them, right-clicking and picking copy. Once copied, the new session can be edited up and the commands pasted. I've done that with the Schedule Library.

To prep the destination, the Driver commands has to be deleted unless the OP wants to figure out which one is the new one.

I did this to save a Schedule library to a new session because I totally messed up a session I was editing and needed to restore the commands, but wanted to keep my consists as I had placed a lot of them around the route in various locations.

True but there are exceptions. With the Navigation Display Rule, for example, the individual navigation point settings within the rule are not copied by the "copy and paste" operation. That is one that I have come across and there may be others.

I could use the dummy session idea.

Basically when I had TANE, "drive to" was always in the options when telling AI drivers what to do, and was what I always used. in TRS19, I have to constantly reselect it or it doesn't appear in driver.

The ability to make a personal Master Rule list has been requested a few years ago. Perhaps you could add your voice by way of Suggestions,
