Seeing a how fast a single non-locomotive rolling car is going in TANE?

First, I'm very, very new to TANE. Second, a free-rolling car with no engine attached doesn't display it's speed in the default display, and I'm trying to set up retarders for a kick back dumper. It's probably something really simple to have it's speed displayed, but I'm new to this version and don't know it.
Thanks.:)

Speed controls and information are only available for locomotives, not individual rolling stock assets. At least in all my years of using Trainz I have never encountered any exceptions to this.

In 09' (and I suspect 2012') the train display was different, and would give the speed of whatever you selected, whether there was an engine or not (if not there weren't any controls though.) Version change it seems.
