Over past few months I've been working on some SD90's and thought I'd share some pictures with you.

First up is the venerable UP SD9043MAC, UP has around 300 of these beasts, which are currently mostly parked up out of service with frame cracks, but are now slowly been returned to service. Personally I really like the SD90's but they are not popular with there crews who would rather see the back them.

All these models use tbumpenv materials, thankx Rumour3 for the help there. The SD70aces and AC44's in the have not tbumpenv materails they are the same colour and texture bake but sky is changing the colour of the loco's. They are a per pixel env map.

But anyway here's my SD90's UP 1st, all the meshes are done just have to finish off the paint schemes. I will add the pics as I finish them.

Standard SD43MAC

Some SD90's now have the Lightning flash paint job

Standard UP roof setup for an SD90

Approximately the 20 SD9043's were delivered with a plain type tank

All later deliveries had this modification to the tanks.

HTCR 2 steerable trucks, a unique feature of SD90's is there parking brake attachment above the rear wheel

Weathered pics to follow.

UP SD90-H fitted with the 6,000hp engine alas to my knowledge there are none left all have been scraped, only 22 were built but suffered from electrical problems. UP returned them to EMD as soon as there lease expired. All gone so sad.

You can tell an H model from the standard 9043MAC by it has an extra air tank on the left hand side and a sloping hood over the enging compartment

The H model also had updated HTCR 2 trucks to get better adhesion and better ride

Also had a Twin stack exhaust

SD9043MAC CITX Leasing company. These are upgrades and repaints of the CEFX units, they look much nicer in the blue paint compared to there dull crimson.

These units have now been fitted lights at the rear. ( eheh I've been looking at CITX pics for weeks and only just the other day I spotted the lights yet they were in plain view, I'm getting old)

These units have yet another roof setup although its not standard across the fleet

Anybody know what that box there is just behind the fuel tank

The big gnarly UP SD90-H2 these are my all time favorite Loco's, railfans some times refer to these as "Big Mac's". They are 6,000hp units, 40 of them were delivered to UP, but they were not very successful turning out to be real shop queens. There were returned to EMD when they came off lease and now spread round all over the place to different leasing company's, but alas the are slowly been scrapped aaarrggghhh 3 or 4 just last month. But anyway they will live on strong on my routes.

They are a real forerunner to the SD70Ace having build the SD90 though to the SD70ace you can get areal feel to the slow upgrade of bits all the way through

I read thay had trouble getting enough fuel in the H model to last the same length of time as a 4400hp unit, hence the H-2's had a bigger fuel tank with lots of extra supports to take the weight.

Some pics from the build process, Please excuse the deck texture its a CP H2 texture

Weather pictures to follow oneday.

More pics below as they only allow 10 per post
