Just installed TC3 in new computer - Win7 Home -64, Intel i5-750 w/Nvidea GTX 285. No problems with previous comp: OS XP much lower spec:)

Patched to 3529. Program now opens with quarter sized screen:eek: . trainzoptions.text:

-DepthBits=24
-StencilBits=8
-Jet=bin
-cabinfov=65
-driverfov=55
-DefaultAutoMip=none
-vsync=0
-fullscreen
-norightclick

Obviously something in Win7 is going wrong. Any ideas please?

Also tried installing 2009 - with Murchison and S&C addons incorporated into 2010. Just freezes so had to uninstal.

Oh the joys of new computers:confused:

Add in your screen resolution settings into your trainzoptions.txt file.

example:

-height=1680
-width=1250

I had to do the same thing with TS2010 SP2.

Thanks John for prompt reply.
Added dims. If I have "-fullscreen" prog. opens in a quarter screen. If I delete "fullscreen" prog. opens in windowed mode without option to elarge to full screen.

Win 7 what have you done to Trainz?:(

My problem was Trainz would start out full screen then change to about 2/3 the screen width and the screen was taller than my display so you could not see or use any buttons at the bottom of the screen. Changed the screen resolution in Trainz Options to match my Windows 7 screen resolution. No more problem. Also, this happened in all versions (2006, 2009, 2010) that I had installed with Windows 7. Did not experience this problem with any Trainz version and Vista.

Just in case..........
You need to install and run as administrator otherwise settings don't save which is possibly why its not accepting your resolution.

Ess1,

Leave the trainzoptions.txt file with the -fullscreen setting.

Use the -height and -width= settings as I stated. This should (never say will with tech support, as I've found out the hard way), fix your problem.

I wonder what Windows 7 and the rest of the Windows family has done to a lot of programs.

Hi John,
Thanks for continued assistance. Still no go: screen show a quarter of full size.

trainzoptionsclassic.txt:

"-DepthBits=24
-StencilBits=8
-Jet=bin
-cabinfov=65
-driverfov=55
-DefaultAutoMip=none
-vsync=0
-norightclick
-height=1680
-width=1250
-fullscreen"

ess1: I think the first thing I would is check your drivers and make sure they are up to date..It also sounds like you need more ram and check your Video card..

Thanks Bob for assistance.
I passed the Auran test upon installation. I have 4GB RAM - Graphic card:

"Name NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_05E3&SUBSYS_111119DA&REV_A1\4&113C73B2&0&0018
Adapter Type GeForce GTX 285, NVIDIA compatible
Adapter Description NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285
Adapter RAM 1.00 GB (1,073,741,824 bytes)
Installed Drivers nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvd3dum,nvwgf2um,nvwgf2um
Driver Version 8.17.11.9621"

Would have thought this together with an Intel i5 sufficient. Can't increase, wife would kill me;)

Your hardware is fine. I have the EVGA Nvidia 275 and it handles TS2010 fine.

On more thing... Ensure that your Display settings are set to the same resolution in the Options item on the Launcher.

Cheers, Sellick. You did a great job there. ;) I wish all of my support calls went this well.
