Scenery Items Missing

I am currently making a route in TRS2006 and whenever I get to the point where I am almost done, all the scenery, stations, signals, and junctions disappear. I get a litte bit angry at this (well alot angry at this), and I want to know two things. (1) What is happening (of course)? (2) How do I save a route to CDP or archive (whichever you prefer)? P.S. I didnt know where you would put this.

You are posting this in prototype talk because...?

Sorry, but it should be fairly obvious that this should be in Content Creation Support. I have no idea what the problem might be, but I think you'd get better support there.

According to the sticky for this topic Lance Jago stated:
"This is the place to talk to other community members about using the Trainz software. Whether that be creating maps in Surveyor...

Looks like this is acceptable here.

Unless this post was moved (my apologies if it was), it is posted in Surveyors... a logical place IMHO :)

I can speak to TRS2004 only. Do not use the undo button. They may have fixed this in TRS2006 but I don't know if they did.

If you added something to the route you don't like just delete it do not undo it. This will work for everything except topology and ground textures. As you get further along save the route with a different name. This will give you a backup in case something goes wrong. Alternate the route you load in surveryor and you will always have a backup just one revision old. This may not be enough (it has worked for me) since some people have posted that even though the area they have been working is ok some place else on the large route has messed up and if you don't catch it all your backups will have this problem.

rick4444 - To make a CDP, save your route and then open local content in CMP. Select your route and right click on it. From the menu that will open select "save to CDP". Easy.

I don't know about your other problem. Are you saying the route crashes, and then when you reopen it everything is gone? In that case it is usually a faulty bit of content, usually scripted rolling stock, that causes problems for me from time to time and crashes the game. Doing frequent back-ups at least until you can find the cause is the best bet. If everything just disappears while you are working, but the terrain is still there, well then I don't know. I would speculate on some memory problem with your computer.

edit: I have never had a problem with the undo button that I can recall in either version of the game, other than a refusal to "save" every once in a while, which makes you use "save as" with the same name to overide the previous version. Now that I think of it, I haven't had that since I installed SP1.

When I finish test-driving it, I come back and all the stuff except for track is gone. Thank you gfisher for showing me how to make a CDP. I never use the undo button.
