Hey all,

does anyone know where I can find American Scale Drawings of steam locomotives?

Very few on the Internet most are in books. Are you going to try to make one, if so start with something simpler first as must who start with a steam engine never git it done. There are not a lot of drawings out there as most got thrown out back in the '40 and '50.

well i actually this will be my first content creation, ive already started on the A1 Peppercorn since there are no Peppercorn engines on the DLS that I know of

I seem to remember seeing a lot of drawings at the Trainz Resource Directory but I don't remember what they were about.

Model Railroader Cyclopedia Vol 1 is all steam engine plans and photos. Vol 2 is diesels. About 100 in each.

The Car and Locomotive Encyclopedia's are an excellent resource but can be expensive Kalmbach Reprinted a few, years ago. www.Raildriver.com is selling CD Roms of the Locomotive Cyclopedia for 1922. For specific locomotives I suggest contacting the operating railroad's historical society many have reprinted their companies Locomotive diagrams, Morning Sun Books is an excellent resource for color pictures of Motive Power and now structures.

In addition to investing in books, CDs, etc., I'd also suggest searching Google Books. There you'll find a good many elevation drawings, and other detailed drawings of various locomotive parts, etc. printed in books age ago that are now in the Public Domain. The example (below) is from the "Locomotive Cyclopedia of American Practice, Volume 1", published in 1906. You can download this particular book as a PDF. There are many more books worthy of downloading @ Google Books, especially if you're looking for drawings, specs, etc.
