I'll give this a shot- folks can correct me as needed

1) make your changes/updates in surveyor. When done, click on main menu- then save. It should prompt you for a route name (or to overwrite the route) and a session name (or to overwrite the session).

2) exit game out to content manager (if you didn't launch the game from the content manager, then you'll have to go all the way out, start trainz again and select "content" on the startup dialog

3) on the left is a frame with a search box. Directly below the search box should be a plus sign. Click on that plus sign and it will add filter criteria. In the leftmost box, there should be a drop-down box with a number of options- select "Author." In the right box, enter your user name (should be the same as your forum id) Click on the "apply" button

4) you should now have a list of all the items you've created or cloned. Look for the route you've been working on, as well as the session. You can use control-click to select both at the same time. Right click on one of them and select "save to CDP" Choose a location you can find again

5) save that file to your cd. I actually use Mozy Home to backup my route online using this method.

Does that help?

saving 2010 layouts

I wonder if anybody can help me or correct me,
I'm still a little bit puzzled as to what is the correct thing to do to save changes after I've worked in the surveyor mode.
One way I`m doing it is to highlight the `My Content` tab in Content Manager v3.2 , then highlight both the `Session and the Routes` , then I right click to choose ` Archiver`
I then change the *.cmp to todays date eg
11th June.cmp , which can be up to 900Mbs !.

The other way I do it is use the Search Tab in Content Manager ,select the + sign then Author ( my tranz name),
it then brings up exactly the same as above , I then choose save to CDP rather than as an archive.
My question is when saving has an archive does it also include all the KUIDS as well as the session and route I am working ?
When I saved to CDP instead of the green archive icon does it only save the root of the session, hence an archive can be a massive amount of megabytes whereas a CDP file comes out as perhaps 2 MB maximum.
Can anybody please explain the best way to save after one has been working in surveyor.
I know this may be a question I have asked before that as yet I truly haven't got my head around the difference between " save" and " save as"
any help would be very much appreciated.
